Chapter 21: "Brian...what are you doing?!" Katie asked as tears filled her eyes. "I'm sorry, baby. But I have to do this and it has to be tonight." Brian said then turned to the priest, "There will be no wedding tonight. Sorry to have wasted your time." "Thank-you, Father. Security will see you out safely." Kevin said. He waited until the pastor was out of sight before he talked again, "What the hell is going on here?" "That's what...what I'd like to know too." Katie cried as Ally consoled her. "Katie..." Brian came over to her and took her hands, "I heard everything." "Heard what?" Katie sobbed. "You and Nick talking just before the ceremony." Brian said as he put his head down. "Nick was here?!" Howie asked confused. "It's a long..long story." AJ said as he patted Howie on the back and moved up to get a better listen. "Oh..oh my God." Katie sat back down. "Yes, I overheard your conversation and I can't hurt you by not letting you be with the one you truly love." Brian said sincerely. "But I love you." Katie looked up at Brian with her tear soaked eyes, "We were gonna have a family together." "I know you love me...I love you, too." Brian said, pulling her into a hug, as everyone watched as if they were watching TV, "But you love Nick more. It hurt you to turn him away before." "Brian...I don't..." Katie started to say as Brian stopped her. "Don't lie to me, please." Brian pleaded, "It would never work between us with your heart belonging to Nick. Plus, it's in the best interest of the baby, to be in a total loving environment." "Your right." Katie said as she wiped the tears from her eyes, "I do love him and I do need to think of the baby first." "Even though, we aren't going to be 'husband & wife', I'll still be there for you 100% and of course, the baby." Brian smiled at her, "Friends forever?" "Friends forever." Katie smiled back and hugged Brian. "Now go to that airport and get him." Brian said as pulled away from the hug. "Thank-you." Katie said back. "Go." Brian simply told her as he pointed up the aisle. With that, Katie ran past everyone and began to run up the aisle. Once she was out of sight, Brian fell to his knees. "That was the hardest thing...I've ever had to do." He cried to the others, who were still in shock, except for AJ & Ally. "I'm proud of you." Kevin said hugging his cousin, "That was very man of you." "Yeah man..." AJ said joining Kevin and Brian, "It's only gonna make you stronger." "AJ's right...for once..." Howie laughed joining them, "You made her happy and she'll never forget that." "I hope she doesn't...because I'm never gonna forget us. I'm missing her all ready." Brian said looking out at the ocean. ~Katie~ "Taxi! I need a Taxi!" Katie yelled to the bellhop as she ran out to the front of the hotel. "All right, All right...late for your wedding or something?" the bellhop laughed. "Listen buddy, I don't have time for this meaningless chitchat! Get me a taxi, so I can get to the airport!" Katie yelled. "Jeez, relax sweetheart...here's your cab." He said opening the car door. "To the airport...now!" Katie ordered the driver as she jumped in. "You got it miss!" The driver said as he sped off. ~Nick~ ~At the airport~ "Can I help you, sir?" The women at the customer service desk asked. "Uhm, yea...I was suppose to fly out, on a private jet, tomorrow morning but I was hoping I could get one out tonight instead. Is that possible?" Nick asked. "Lemme check with the pilots here." she said as she picked up the phone and Nick waited for her to finish, "One is willing to do it, he'll be right out to talk to you." "Thanks." Nick said as someone called his name. "Nicky boy!" a pilot said approaching him. "John, glad to see ya." Nick said shaking his hand, "I need to leave tonight." "No prob, no prob...where's that the most beautiful girl in the world you were talking about on the flight down?" he asked. "That's why I need to leave tonight. She turned me away and..."Nick looked at his watch, "she's prolly married to my best friend now." "Ouch! Sorry man...we can leave in 15 minutes, okay?" John said. "Great, the sooner I'm out of here, the better." Nick sighed. ~Back to Katie~ "Err! Why does there always have to be traffic?!" Katie screamed. "Late for your wedding?" the driver asked. "No, I just ran out of my wedding." she laughed. "Oh, I see." the driver said looking confused. "Ya see, I loved Nick all throughout 8th grade, then I moved and we lost touch." Katie began to ramble on, "Then we saw each other again and I fell for him all over again...but he lied to me. So, I started to date his friend, Brian, and we fell in love. But Nick was always in my heart." "Oh, continued." the driver smiled. "Brian and I were going to get married today but Nick came." Katie started up again, "And Brian overheard Nick and I confess our love for each other." "Oh no...what happened next?" the driver said excitedly. "Brian stopped the wedding and told me to go after Nick and here I am." Katie said. "Oh, whoa, what a soap opera!" the driver laughed. "There's more..." Katie laughed, "I'm pregnant and I don't know which one is the father." "Oh my lord, child, you need to go on one of those talk shows!" the driver continued to laugh. "Yea but before I do that, I need to find Nick." Katie sighed. "Here we are...the airport." the driver said pulling up. "Great, how much do I owe you?" Katie said jumping out. "It's on the house...just get your man and take care of that baby." the driver smiled. "Thank-you so much. I hope I'm not too late." Katie said running into the airport. ~Back to Nick~ "Ready to go?" the pilot asked Nick, breaking his daydream of Katie. "As ready as I'll ever be without her." Nick said as he stood up. "I'll get you home before you know it and you'll forget all about her and move on with your life." John, the pilot, said. "She is my life. I can't forget her." Nick said back to him, "I love her." "I'm sure you do. You're so young...you silly kids and first love." John chuckled at Nick, "Well, let's go before it gets dark." "Yea...whatever." Nick said in agreement as he walked with John to the plane. Nick suddenly stopped from walking, when a cold breeze brushed the back of his neck, causing him to get the chills. He got the feeling Katie was near and turned around but saw noone. "Nick, man, get a grip." He said to himself as he started to walk again. ~End of Chapter 21~ Back to Index Chapter 22 |
