The Elms are...
|
Who are The Elms, you ask? The Elms are a relitively young CCM band but with two albums out, they're rocking the US with their soulful rock and roll. Owen and Chris Thomas have been in it from the beginning...They knew then their dreams couldn't stop them - Their hard work has payed off. Friend of Owen's since hte 4th grade, lead guitarist Thom Daughterty hit the scene in 2000 adding more skill and style to the rock band. The Elms, having trouble finding a bassist met Keith Miller on New Years Eve of 2000 - He was in the band a week later. But sometimes real life calls for different paths to be taken....Three years later, Keith Miller left The Elms to go to school and Nathan joined in January of 2004.

.. ..... ......... ..... .. . |
How did they come up with The Elms? The name THE ELMS is in fact a personal one to the members of the band. Owen and Christopher Thomas' father, Hywell, is from the tiny country of Wales in the British Isles. His only brother, Meirion, moved to London, England, years ago in pursuit of his PhD in cancer surgery. Meirion purchased a beautiful 16th century converted coaching inn, rich in heritage and completely surrounded by elm trees, thus acquiring the name, The Elms. Upon visiting The Elms several times, Owen saw in the estate a beautiful analogy of God's provision. Like the trees surrounded the house, so does God cover and protect His people. When it came time for Owen and Chris' musical endeavors to take on a moniker indicative of the music and its focus, The Elms was chosen. |
