This website is devoted to the research I undertook while an M.A. candidate at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). The inspiration for the site were conversations with friends, family and colleagues about my research. I thought it would be appreciated if those few who actually showed any interest had the opportunity to peruse the work that I have done.
Once I began putting the site together, I decided that if I were going to all the trouble to make the site, I might as well add some other content that may interest the readers. Consequently, I've included pages that have links and downloads from some interesting articles and papers that are generally related to my work.
Recurring themes in my research are the importance of natural resources, especially petroleum, to international economics and the relationship between MNCs and states. For the most part, my research focuses on the Asia-Pacific region.
I have finally uploaded my M.A. Thesis. NPSIA insists on distinguishing between research essays and theses, however, I often refer to my paper as a thesis in order to avoid confusion when discussing it with those not involved with the program.
When I have more time (i.e. after graduation and I'm unemployed), I hope to use the Commentary page as a sort of blog. I'd like to hear feedback from anyone who visits and reads any of the material on the site. Maybe, if I really learn how to do web design, I will be able to use this section as a forum for discussion. Nevertheless, I would like to hear from any and all who visit.
