Among the numerous Battle Droid variations released so far, Hasbro made a half-hearted attempt to produce one of the blue Trade Federation pilot droids, seen aboard the Federation Droid Control Ship in The Phantom Menace. Using the inferior molds from the original Battle Droid figures (and lacking even the articulation they had), these figures were sold with the "Invasion Force" Armoured Scout Tank vehicle (see below).
Considering neither the figure sculpt nor the painting scheme was accurate, I decided I could make a better version by repainting one of the newer Power of the Jedi Battle Droid figures blue. Both the red Battle Droid Security figure and the "Boomer-Damaged" Battle Droid figure use a much more accurate sculpt than any of the numerous Battle Droid figures released earlier, and despite their considerably thinner legs, they stand better, too.

This particular figure is a repaint of the "Boomer-Damaged" Battle Droid, minus the bright blue plastic parts coiled around the arms and chest. After removing the elastic bands and the "boomer damage," I sanded down the chest of the figure to remove the painted scorch marks, leaving a clean beige surface to apply the cobalt blue piping to.

The rounded pegs on the shoulders were cut off with an Exacto knife, and the shoulders were sanded down 'till they were roughly equal in size. This smooth flat shape to the shoulders is much more accurate to the Battle Droids depicted in the film.

Compare my custom Battle Droid Pilot to the Armoured Scout Tank pilot Hasbro produced (right), and you'll see why I felt it needed improvement... I mean, you can't even straighten out the arms!
