The largest Buddha in the world, 71 metres high, is carved into a cliff face overlooking the confluence of the Dadu and Min rivers.

Built between 713 and 803 AD the Grand Buddha's ears are 7m long, insteps 8.5m broad, and a picnic could be conducted on the nail of his big toe, which is 1.5m long -- the toe itself is 8.5m long (those are people, or 'toe jams', on his feet).

The Grand Buddha sits in the city of Leshan, Sichuan Province.
