ASSI YUKEJANG MEN |
Season Packet: salt, sugar, paprika, spices(red pepper powder, black pepper powder, garlic powder), soy sauce powder(soybean, salt), garlic powder, black pepper powder, beef extract Vegetable Packet: green onion, carrot * also contained small yellow squares that are not listed. Not sure what these are. Spicyness: 4 Comment: Spicy broth. Not much of a beef flavor if any. A lot of green onion in the vegetable mix provide a nice flavor. There should have been more of a beef flavor in the broth Overall: 3 |
ASSI SEAFOOD TASTE |
PICTURE COMING SOON |
Season Packet: anchovy powder, sugar, monosodium l-glutamate, red pepper powder, black pepper powder, salt Flake: green onion, cuttlefish, carrot Spicyness: 2 Comment: This ramen has the wet pack noodle. The broth has a slightly fishy taste to it and just a hint of spiceyness. Mostly from the black pepper. The cuttlefish provide a nice chewiness. Overall: 4 |
Season Packet: anchovy powder, sugar, monosodium l-glutamate, red pepper powder, black pepper powder, salt Flake: mushroom, green onion, seaweed *note, fish cake and some kind of puffs were listed Spicyness: 4 Comment: Whats up with Assi using the same soup base for different ramens. Either the label is a misprint or they are some cheap bastards. Anyway, the noodles are in a wet pack and really nothing special about them. The broth is pretty much the same as the about review, except for being spicier. There was an abundant amount of flake and make the ramen very hearty. I counted at least 15 fish cakes in the broth. Overall not a bad ramen. Overall: 4 |
ASSI HOT TASTE |
ASSI RICE NOODLE ANCHOVY FLAVOR |
Season Packet: salt, monosodium glutamate, onion, mushroom, seaweed, anchovy Flake: included in season packet Spicyness: 4 Comment: First I find it hard to believe that the only two ingredients in the season packet other than the dehydrated items is salt and MSG. Yet again here is another example of not listing everything in the ingredient list. The broth was very spicy even though salt and MSG is supposedly all that is in the broth. The broth also has a fishy flavor which just doesn't appeal to well. I like anchovies, but in this broth they are not that great. The rice noodles soaked up so much of the broth that there was very little left. So the noodles turned to mush. There was a lot of seaweed but I also found chunks of peppers which again was omitted from the ingriedent list. Come on Assi you can do better than this. Overall: 2 |
ASSI KIMCHI MEN |
Soup Base: salt, sugar, glucose, monosodium glutamate, paprika, spices(red pepper, powder, black pepper powder, garlic powder), soy sauce powder(soybean, salt), onion powder, kimchi powder(chinese cabbage, red pepper, ginger, garlic), beef extract Flake: kimchi, green onion, Spicyness: 3 Comment: Another kimchi ramen. I love kimchi but the flavor is hard to put into a ramen. The broth has a slighty sour taste to it. But mostly a salty overtone. The broth wasn't overly spicy. Kimchi is normally very spicy with loads of garlic. But Assi doesn't quite get it done here. The addition of the kimchi was good. A good ramen, but dont expect a true kimchi flavor. Overall: 4 |
ASSI SEAFOOD UDON |
Bow Size: 7.7oz/219g Soup Base: salt, glucose, monosodium glutamate, soy sauce powder(soybean, salt, wheat), sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, bonito extract, cuttlefish powder, red pepper powder Dehydrated Mix: green onion, cuttlefish, corn syrup, crown daisy, fried ball(wheat flour, palm oil), carrot Spicyness: 3 Comment: The noodles for this one were in a wet pack so basically just add hot water and they are ready to eat. The instructions say to add water and microwave but as soon as I did that my bowl started smoking and caught on fire. It did manage to make it through ok. The smell of the broth was a strong seafood flavor and the taste was salty and fishy tasting. A couple of odd things was the lising of corn syrup in the ingredient list, I assume this is maybe a misprint and the fried ball. I didn't have any fried balls in this. Maybe I just didn't get any. But a treat was the cuttlefish. They were cut into huge strips and tasted really good after soaking up the broth. The noodles were good and chewy. Overall a winner from Assi. Overall: 5 |
ASSI HOT & SPICY UDON |
Soup Base: salt, soy suace powder(soybean, salt, wheat), monosodium glutamate, red pepper powder, beef extract, spice(red pepper powder, black pepper powder, garlic powder, onion powder), garlic powder Dehydrated Mix: onion, green onion, mushroom, carrot, red pepper Spicyness: 4 Comment: Assi makes some pretty good ramen and here is another udon version with the noodles in a wet pack. Which I really like the udon noodles when they are packaged like this versus the dried kind. The dehydrated veggies actually were shaped into a square which when you added water expanded into a very large amount. The broth had a typical korean spicyness which was a lot of heat at times. The udon noodles were chewy and went well with the spicy broth. The large amount of veggies added some texture but mostly the broth was a salty and spicy red pepper flavor which I enjoy. Overall another good ramen from Assi. Overall: 5 |
ASSI SEAFOOD BOWL |
Bowl Size: 5.3oz/153g Soup Base: salt, short neck clam powder, monosodium glutamate, glucose, sugar, short neck clam extract, squid powder, soybean Dehydrated Mix: mushroom, seaweed, carrot, red pepper, shrimp Spicyness: 2 Comment: Not sure of the exact flavor of this due that part not being in English but my best bet would be some kind of seafood flavor. The noodles are pre-cooked so no need to add boiling water. The broth had a strong seafood scent. The broth tasted a little "fishy" but soon the saltiness took over. There was a little spicyness but mostly just the salt laden seafood flavor. The noodles were not the best, a little mushie and bland. If you like salt and a fishy broth this ramen if for you. Overall not Assi brand's best offering. Overall: 2 |
ASSI WHEAT FLAKE WITH SOUP BASE BOWL |
Bowl Size: 6.1oz/175g Soup Base: salt, corn syrup, garlic, sugar Dehydrated Mix: chinese cabbage, onion, mushroom, seaweed Spicyness: 3 Comment: Another offering from Assi and the entitre bowl was not in English except for a small sticker which did a very poor job of listing the ingredients. The noodles looked like egg noodles and were in a wet pack and did not need boiling. After all was said and done the noodles were awful, they dissolved basically and just fell apart in the broth, which made for a disgusting sight. The broth was salty and spicy and not much else in the way of flavor. There was an ample amount of veggies but this could not help this poor attempt of a ramen. Overall: 1 |
