FANTASTIC SPRING VEGETABLE |
Bowl Size: 2oz Soup Base: yeast extract, sea salt, organic corn starch, natural flavors, miso powder(soybeans, rice, salt), spices Dehydrated Mix: carrots, green bell peppers, tomatoes, green onions, garlic Spicyness: 1 Comment: I found this ramen in the organic section of my local Kroger grocery store. The noodles are baked organic ramen but apparently the rest of the ingredients are not. Since on the back of the bowl there is a claim that 70% of the ingredients are organic. Looking at the ingredient list I was shocked to see yeast extract as the number one ingredient. If you do not know what yeast extract is it is basically MSG. Now on to the tasting. The broth had more of a bland veggie flavor than of miso as I thought it should have. Plus it was not salty enough. There was an ample amount of veggies, but overall not a bad ramen but not much flavor. |
FANTASTIC MISO WITH TOFU |
Bowl Size: 2oz/56g Soup Base: miso powder(soybeans, rice, salt), natural flavors(containing yeast extract), caramel color, xanthan gum, expeller pressed sesame oil, citric acid Dehydrated Mix: garlic, onions, mushroom, green onions, tofu Spicyness: 1 Comment: Another ramen from fantastic and again made with 70% organic ingedients, this just makes me laugh thinking about it. The broth had a weak miso flavor as if they did not add enough soup powder to the bowl when packaged. Not much flavor other than a slight saltiness but at least there was a nice supply of veggies and tofu to help with the blandness. Overall not bad but the broth needs a stronger flavor. Overall: 3 |
FANTASTIC SESAME MISO |
Bowl Size: 20oz/56g Soup Base: sea salt, brown rice syrup solids, expeller pressed toasted sesame oil, silica, miso powder(soybeans, rice, salt), soy sauce powder(wheat, soybeans, salt), yeast extract, lemon grass, xanthan gum, spices Dehydrated Mix: carrots, red bell peppers, garlic, onion, green onion, red cabbage Spicyness: 1 Comment: Another 70% organic offering from Fantastic. The broth had a very weak flavor of miso and a weak salt flavor. This is one problem with Fantastic, they seem to want to make this as healthy as possible but the flavor of the broths are really watered down tasting. On a positive note are the ample amount of veggies which add some flavor and texture, but the weak broth is what captures your attention. Overall: 3 |
FANTASTIC SPICY THAI |
Soup Base: natural flavor, evaporated cane juice, yeast extract, soy sauce powder(wheat, soybeans, salt), citric acid, ground ginger, peanut flour, spices, expeller pressed canola oil, silicon dioxide Dehydrated Mix: carrots, red bell pepper, onion, garlic Spicyness: 2 Comment: I found a new variety of Fantastic ramen at my local Kroger grocery store but this time they seem to have ditched the 70% organic line of their ramen. Again I am shocked by the first ingredient being natural flavor aka for MSG. The broth had a slightly sour flavor with a little bit of spicyness but not much. The low sodium flavor also took away to much from the broth. Ramen needs to be salty flavored in my opinion. But Fantastic does have here a healthier version of ramen. The noodles are baked rather than fried and really do not get very chewy, they remain to hard for my liking. If you like healthy this is your ramen which translates to not very good Overall: 2. |
