The League Of Gentlemen are Jeremy Dyson, Reece Shearsmith, Steve Pemberton and Mark Gatiss. All four of these mad freaks write the League, and all except Jeremy perform. For all you stalkerish types out there (and I know who you are) here's some vital and some not-so-vital info about those four madmen who make up the League. |
JEREMY DYSON: Originates from Leeds, where his parents still live. He studied philosophy at Leeds University, then went on to achieve an MA in screenwriting, graduating from the Northern School of Film and Television in 1993. He was introduced to Reece and Steve by Mark Gatiss, which whom Jeremy has written books such as "The Essex Files" and also "Ringing the Changes" which was broadcast via radio. His most recent collection of short stories "Never Trust A Rabbit" received critical acclaim and was listed in Amazon.co.uk best sellers. He is also a musician, and his band Ruldolph Rocker wrote the lyrics and music for "Voodoo Lady". Jeremy doesn't appear in many episodes, preferring to devote himself to writing, although he has had minor roles in a few episodes (3 lighters for a pound dude, Luigi the waiter, Mike King in the Christmas episode etc). He writes the series alongside Mark, while Steve and Reece write together. The character he's most proud of is Pops, and in the early days he used to play Bernice in the stage shows. Frankly, Jeremy Dyson is the silent, twisted genius of the four. USELESS JEREMY FACT: Jeremy Dyson invented the Dyson hoover. He still sucks his thumb, and is allergic to all unnatural light. He cannot be fed after midnight. |
who made us this way, who???? (The Gents) |
REECE SHEARSMITH: Was born in Hull and studied at Bretton Hall Drama School, where he met Steve, Mark and Jeremy. Afterwards he did work in Theatre Education and travelled around Europe. On his return he moved to London, where he spent time signing on as dole scum. He has appeared in films including "ThisYears Love" and "Auton" (pictured left). He made a cameo appearance in "Spaced" as Dexter, the Robot War psychopath. Reece has many Yahoo groups dedicated to him, but sorry, people, he's married! USELESS REECE FACT: Reece hates football. |
STEVE PEMBERTON: Is from Chorley, Lancs. He studied at Bretton Hall and co-founded the 606 Theatre which led to the formation of the League. He has worked and appeared in many, many TV shows, including Randall and Hopkirk Deceased, Gormanghast, Friday Night Armistace and Lenny Goes to Town. He has also produced and appeared in many plays. USELESS STEVE FACT: Steve is a fanatic Blackburn fan. He also has a very interesting chin. |
MARK GATISS: Mark was born in Sedgefield, Durham. He attended Bretton Hall and co-wrote and performed two plays "Damage your Children" and "Death Warmed Up" with Steve Pemberton. He has done much TV work, including Randall and Hopkirk Deceased and Harry. He and Jeremy have written radio plays together and also "The Essex Files". Mark has also written various Dr Who books. Hmm. USELESS MARK FACT: He is, in fact, a woman. He had a sex change, and this was the inspiration for Barbara. |
