Ancient Egypt |

As
you probably know by now, our
precious class pet Fluffy the hamster has been kidnapped by an evil
Ancient Egyptian cat, Osiris and been taken somewhere deep into the
pyramids.
Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to find Fluffy and
bring her back home safely. We better start researching the
land of Egypt if we are ever going to find her.
This is a map of Ancient Egypt.
To find Fluffy, we will need to know about the geography of
Ancient Eygpt. Answer the following questions, so that we can go
to Egypt and find Fluffy.
1. Where in the world is Egypt and what will we need to
pack to go on our journey to find Fluffy?
2. What were some differences between the "black land" and the "red
land?"
3. How did the Nile help shape the way of life for the Egyptians?
Sites to Visit:
You will also want to learn a little
about our kidnapper. Answer the following questions about cats in
Ancient Eygpt and record your answers.
- How were cats treated in Ancient Egypt?
- How did the Egyptians pave the way for pet cats today?
- What did ancient Egyptians do to show their love for cats?
After you have recorded your answers,
bring them to Mrs. Wheeler to see if you are ready to go to Egypt.
Then you may continue.

Congratulations! You've made it
to Egypt! Now if only we could find those Pyramids at Giza that
evil cat was talking about in his letter! We should try to get
some information online...
These are some great websites on the
Pyramids at Giza. If we can answer the questions below, I'm sure
we can get to Fluffy!
- Why are the pyramids considered one of the Seven Ancient
Wonders of the World? Are there any other Wonders that still
exist?
- Why did the Egyptians build the pyramids?
- Are there other pyramids in Egypt? How many? Where are they?
Now that we've found the Pyramids at Giza, where Osiris has imprisoned Fluffy, all we have to do is get inside....
Only one BIG problem!! The
Sphinx won't let us in! She says that she can only let us in if
we can answer these 3 questions:
1. Explain the ancient Egyptian view of religion to me and
contrast it with one of today's more popular
religions.
2. Who were some of the people that lived in Ancient Egypt and what were their roles in society?
3. How have I, the Sphinx, chenged since I was built many years ago?
Because the Sphinx feels bad for poor Fluffy, she has provided some websites that may help answer her
questions:
After
you have recorded your answers, bring them to Mrs. Wheeler to find out
if you have saved Fluffy from the evil Ancient Egyptian cat, Osiris.
