Jude: This epistle is addressed to all believers in the gospel. Its design appears to be to guard believers against the false teachers who had begun to creep into the Christian church, and to scatter dangerous tenets, by attempting to lower all Christianity into a merely nominal belief and outward profession of the gospel. Having thus denied the obligations of personal holiness, they taught their disciples to live in sinful courses, at the same time flattering them with the hope of eternal life. The vile character of these seducers is shown, and their sentence is denounced, and the epistle concludes with warnings, admonitions, and counsels to believers.
Jude 1: (v. 1-4) The apostle exhorts to stedfastness in the faith.
(v. 5-7) The danger of being infected by false professors, and the dreadful punishment which shall be inflicted on them and their followers.
(v. 8-16) An awful description of these seducers and their deplorable end.
(v. 17-23) Believers cautioned against being surprised at such deceivers arising among them.
(v. 24,25) The epistle ends with an encouraging doxology, or words of praise.
The apostle exhorts to stedfastness in the faith
(Jude 1:1 KJV) Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
Sanctified is to be set aside holy. Only the power of God can make you holy and only Christ can keep us that way. Jesus died to pay for our sins and open the way to sanctification.

¹ti·fi´er nounSANCTIFICATION The process of being made holy resulting in a changed life-style for the believer. The English word sanctification comes from the Latin santificatio, meaning the act/process of making holy, consecrated. In the Greek New Testament, the root hag- is the basis of hagiasmos, "holiness," "consecration," "sanctification"; hagiosyne, "holiness"; hagiotes, "holiness"; hagiazo "to sanctify," "consecrate," "treat as holy," "purify"; and hagios, "holy," "saint." The root idea of the Greek stem is to stand in awe of something or someone. The New Testament usage is greatly dependent upon the Greek translation of the Old Testament, the Septuagint, for meaning. The hag- words in the Septuagint mostly translated the Hebrew qadosh, "separate, contrasting with the profane." Thus, God is separate; things and people dedicated to Him and to His use are separate. The moral implications of this word came into focus with the prophets and became a major emphasis in the New Testament. See Holy.
Old Testament In Old Testament thought the focus of holiness (qadosh) is upon God. He is holy (Ps. 99:9); His name is holy (Pss. 99:3; 111:9) and may not be profaned (Lev. 20:3). Since God exists in the realm of the holy rather than the profane, all that pertains to Him must come into that same realm of holiness. This involves time, space, objects, and people.
Certain times are sanctified in that they are set apart especially to the Lord: the sabbath (Gen. 2:3), the various festivals (Lev. 23:4-44), the year of Jubilee (Lev. 25:12). By strictly observing the regulations governing each, Israel sanctified (or treated as holy) these special times of the year. Also the land of Canaan (Ex. 15:13), as well as Jerusalem (Isa. 11:9), was holy to the Lord and was not to be polluted by sinful conduct (Lev. 18:27-28). The tabernacle/Temple and all the objects related to it were holy (Ex. 25--Num. 10; Ezek. 40-48). The various gifts brought in worship were sanctified. These fall into three groupings: those whose sanctity was inherent (for example, firstborn males of female animals and human beings, Ex. 13:2,11-13; Lev. 27:26); objects whose sanctification was required (for example, tithes of crops and pure animals, Lev. 27:30-33; Deut. 26:13); and gifts whose sanctification was voluntary (see partial list in Lev. 27). The dedication of these objects mostly occurred not at some ritual in the sanctuary but at a prior declaration of dedication (Judg. 17:3; Lev. 27:30-33).
Of course, the priests and Levites who functioned in the sanctuary, beginning with Aaron, were sanctified to the Lord by the anointing of oil (Ex. 30:30-32; 40:12-15). Additionally, the Nazirite was consecrated (Num. 6:8), although only for a specified period of time. Finally, the nation of Israel was sanctified to the Lord as a holy people (Ex. 19:6; Deut. 7:6; 14:2,21; 26:19). This holiness was closely identified with obedience to the Law of Holiness in Lev. 17-26, which includes both ritual and ethical commands. In the prophets especially, the ethical responsibility of being holy in conduct came to the forefront (Isa. 5; Jer. 5-7; Amos 4-5; Hos. 11).
Sanctification in the New Testament The same range of meanings reflected by the Septuagint usage is preserved in the New Testament but with extension of meaning in certain cases. Objects may be made holy (Matt. 23:17,19; 1 Tim. 4:5) or treated as holy (Matt. 6:9; Luke 11:2), but, mostly, the word group stresses the personal dimension of holiness. Here, the two streams of Old Testament meaning are significant: the cultic and the ethical. Sanctification is vitally linked to the salvation experience and is concerned with the moral/spiritual obligations assumed in that experience. We were set apart to God in conversion, and we are living out that dedication to God in holiness.
The link of New Testament thought to Old Testament antecedents in the cultic aspect of sanctification is most clearly seen in Hebrews. Christ's crucifixion makes possible the moving of the sinner from the profane to the holy (that is, sanctifies, makes holy) so that the believer can become a part of the temple where God dwells and is worshiped (Heb. 13:11-16; 2:9-11; 10:10,14,29). Paul (Rom. 15:16; 1 Cor. 1:2; 6:11; Eph. 5:26-27; 2 Thess. 2:13) and Peter (1 Pet. 1:2) both affirmed the work of the Holy Spirit in conversion as a sanctification, a making the believer holy so as to come before God in acceptance. Especially in Paul, justification and sanctification are closely related concepts. See Justification.
Hebrews also emphasizes the ethical aspect of sanctification. Sanctification/holiness is to be pursued as an essential aspect of the believer's life (Heb. 12:14); the blood of sanctification must not be defiled by sinful conduct (10:26-31). Paul stressed both the individual's commitment to holy living (Rom. 6:19-22; 1 Thess. 4:3-8; 2 Cor. 7:1) and the enabling power of God for it (1 Thess. 3:13; 4:8). The summation of the ethical imperative is seen in Peter's use (1 Pet. 1:15-16) of Leviticus 11:44; 19:2; 20:7: "Be ye holy; for I am holy."

Jude 1:1: Verses 1-4. Christians are called out of the world, from the evil spirit and temper of it; called above the world, to higher and better things, to heaven, things unseen and eternal; called from sin to Christ, from vanity to seriousness, from uncleanness to holiness; and this according to the Divine purpose and grace. If sanctified and glorified, all the honour and glory must be ascribed to God, and to him alone. As it is God who begins the work of grace in the souls of men, so it is he who carries it on, and perfects it. Let us not trust in ourselves, nor in our stock of grace already received, but in him, and in him alone. The mercy of God is the spring and fountain of all the good we have or hope for; mercy, not only to the miserable, but to the guilty. Next to mercy is peace, which we have from the sense of having obtained mercy. From peace springs love; Christ's love to us, our love to him, and our brotherly love to one another. The apostle prays, not that Christians may be content with a little; but that their souls and societies may be full of these things. None are shut out from gospel offers and invitations, but those who obstinately and wickedly shut themselves out. But the application is to all believers, and only to such. It is to the weak as well as to the strong. Those who have received the doctrine of this common salvation, must contend for it, earnestly, not furiously. Lying for the truth is bad; scolding for it is not better. Those who have received the truth must contend for it, as the apostles did; by suffering with patience and courage for it, not by making others suffer if they will not embrace every notion we call faith, or important. We ought to contend earnestly for the faith, in opposition to those who would corrupt or deprave it; who creep in unawares; who glide in like serpents. And those are the worst of the ungodly, who take encouragement to sin boldly, because the grace of God has abounded, and still abounds so wonderfully, and who are hardened by the extent and fulness of gospel grace, the design of which is to deliver men from sin, and bring them unto God.

I like the part that you should strive against all odds for the faith, or knowing of our salvation.

The vivid expression epagonizomai (Gk.) is translated "contend earnestly" and is related to the English word "agony." The term is associated with strife and combat of a most vigorous and determined variety. The present tense of the verb indicates that the Christian struggle is to be continuous. Jude believed that the foundational tenets of the Christian faith were under attack. Nothing but vigorous counter-contention would be sufficient

Our church and country today need to read these verses for they do not teach against what Jesus taught but in fact is the message he brought to us. Repentance and faith and love with a mixture of separation from the world. We are the watchmen, it is our job to warn and bring to remembrance that God will not allow us to have anything in our hearts before him or his will.

(vv. 5-19) Jude writes about a dangerous faction that has slipped into the congregations. These false teachers were: (1) changing the entrusted theology; (2) boasting of visions; (3) reviling angelic beings; (4) creating divisions; and (5) exhibiting self-centeredness.
(vv. 5-7) Jude is fond of listings in groups of three in his epistle. He also uses O.T. illustrations effectively. Here he combines these devices: (1) murmuring Israelites, (2) fallen angels, and (3) Sodom and Gomorrah as warnings to his readers.
Jude 1:5: Verses 5-7. Outward privileges, profession, and apparent conversion, could not secure those from the vengeance of God, who turned aside in unbelief and disobedience. The destruction of the unbelieving Israelites in the wilderness, shows that none ought to presume on their privileges. They had miracles as their daily bread; yet even they perished in unbelief. A great number of the angels were not pleased with the stations God allotted to them; pride was the main and direct cause or occasion of their fall. The fallen angels are kept to the judgment of the great day; and shall fallen men escape it? Surely not. Consider this in due time. The destruction of Sodom is a loud warning to all, to take heed of, and flee from fleshly lusts that war against the soul, 1 Peter 2:11. God is the same holy, just, pure Being now, as then. Stand in awe, therefore, and sin not, Psalms 4:4. Let us not rest in anything that does not make the soul subject to the obedience of Christ; for nothing but the renewal of our souls to the Divine image by the Holy Spirit, can keep us from being destroyed among the enemies of God. Consider this instance of the angels, and see that no dignity or worth of the creature is of avail. How then should man tremble, who drinketh iniquity like water! Job 15:16.
(Jude 1:6 KJV) And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Many writers put Gen 6:2 with this because some books such as the Book of Enoch taught that this was indeed in reference to the Angles which left heaven and took on the form of man to marry and teach men all kinds of evil. In fact the writer of Enoch says it was these same angels, called watchers, that first introduced make up and ear rings and such other things to man kind. This I cannot back with the Bible but its worth considering what I do know is that angels fell and Satan led a war against Gods host and was cast out.

Isa 14:20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.

2 Pet 2:10 But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
2 Pet 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
1 Cor 6:2 Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
1 Cor 6:3 Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
The reference to angels "who did not keep their proper domain" corresponds to Peter's reference to the same event (see 2 Pet. 2:4, note). The pre-cosmic fall of Satan (noted typologically in Isa. 14 and Ezek. 28) included a sizable contingent of angels who followed him (possibly one third, cf. Rev. 12:4). Some of these have been reserved in chains awaiting the concluding judgment of all angels (cf. 1 Cor. 6:3), while others remain active agents of Satan.
(Jude 1:7 KJV) Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
An awful description of these seducers and their deplorable end
(Jude 1:8 KJV) Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
The question has often been asked how do we control our dreams? First of all this goes hand in hand with lust, and with our daydreams. Which we can control, but even more so, we do have a great deal of power over our nighttime dreams. If we obey the word and walk in his Spirit and if we learn to have a mind of prayer, our dreams tend to reflect what is in the heart. Dreams are a release of what is deep in us, our desires, our fears, the emotions that we hide away, its also often times a built in warning system of what we should or should not do. When our hearts are geared to praising God and our minds are busy on his word then our dreams tend to reflect those kind of things as well. Dreams of a troubled mind are often scary and show a lot bout who and what we are.
Jude 1:8: Verses 8-16. False teachers are dreamers; they greatly defile and grievously wound the soul. These teachers are of a disturbed mind and a seditious spirit; forgetting that the powers that be, are ordained of God, Romans 13:1. As to the contest about the body of Moses, it appears that Satan wished to make the place of his burial known to the Israelites, in order to tempt them to worship him, but he was prevented, and vented his rage in desperate blasphemy. This should remind all who dispute never to bring railing charges. Also learn hence, that we ought to defend those whom God owns. It is hard, if not impossible, to find any enemies to the Christian religion, who did not, and do not, live in open or secret contradiction to the principles of natural religion. Such are here compared to brute beasts, though they often boast of themselves as the wisest of mankind. They corrupt themselves in the things most open and plain. The fault lies, not in their understandings, but in their depraved wills, and their disordered appetites and affections. It is a great reproach, though unjust to religion, when those who profess it are opposed to it in heart and life. The Lord will remedy this in his time and way; not in men's blind way of plucking up the wheat with the tares. It is sad when men begin in the Spirit, and end in the flesh. Twice dead; they had been once dead in their natural, fallen state; but now they are dead again by the evident proofs of their hypocrisy. Dead trees, why cumber they the ground! Away with them to the fire. Raging waves are a terror to sailing passengers; but when they get into port, the noise and terror are ended. False teachers are to expect the worst punishments in this world and in that to come. They glare like meteors, or falling stars, and then sink into the blackness of darkness for ever. We have no mention of the prophecy of Enoch in any other part or place of Scripture; yet one plain text of Scripture, proves any point we are to believe. We find from this, that Christ's coming to judge was prophesied of, as early as the times before the flood. The Lord cometh: what a glorious time will that be! Notice how often the word "ungodly" is repeated. Many now do not at all refer to the terms godly, or ungodly, unless it be to mock at even the words; but it is not so in the language taught us by the Holy Ghost. Hard speeches of one another, especially if ill-grounded, will certainly come into account at the day of judgment. These evil men and seducers are angry at every thing that happens, and never pleased with their own state and condition. Their will and their fancy, are their only rule and law. Those who please their sinful appetites, are most prone to yield to ungovernable passions. The men of God, from the beginning of the world, have declared the doom denounced on them. Such let us avoid. We are to follow men only as they follow Christ.
(Jude 1:9 KJV) Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
The message here is not for us to get wrapped up in the what ifs or what might have been the point is that Michael was smart enough when contending with the devil to use the power, Jesus name. We to can rebuke Satan with this lovely name and use it to fight against the evil that comes against us in our daily lives.
Readers are introduced to an incident concerning the death of Moses. Oral tradition and apocryphal literature (The Assumption of Moses) contain the story concerning the struggle over Moses' body. The contestants were Satan and Michael, the archangel. Although no explanation is provided anywhere in Scripture, it may be that Satan had planned to acquire the body of Moses for use as a relic, and, hence, an object of worship among the Hebrew people. The account of this encounter demonstrates the intrinsic evil of those who openly "speak evil of dignitaries" (v. 8). Jude remarks that even Michael did not bring an accusation against the devil but contented himself with God's judgment, saying, "The Lord rebuke you!" The point is that if a mighty archangel had respect for celestial powers, how much more so should the case be with the human false teachers?
(Jude 1:10 KJV) But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
We must not listen to every voice, or every one that says they are of God. But to try the Sprits and check out the fruit on the tree.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
(Jude 1:11 KJV) Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Balaam did what he was told not because he was promised silver. Judas sold Christ for silver, today many of our churchs and preachers still are hungry for silver. How many of the so called Christians kill there brothers or sister with words and deeds, and yet say they love them, they do so because they are like Cain. Their works that come from their heart are evil and tell what they really are. How many of those who do sit and listen to men of God give all they have and try to teach and love and they are rebellious people who will not listen or change.
1 John 3:11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.
1 John 3:13 Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.
Num 22:5 He sent messengers therefore unto Balaam the son of Beor to Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they abide over against me:
Num 22:6 Come now therefore, I pray thee, curse me this people; for they are too mighty for me: peradventure I shall prevail, that we may smite them, and that I may drive them out of the land: for I wot that he whom thou blessest is blessed, and he whom thou cursest is cursed.

Balaam, the Donkey, and the Angel
Num 22:22 And God's anger was kindled because he went: and the angel of the LORD stood in the way for an adversary against him. Now he was riding upon his ass, and his two servants were with him.
Num 22:23 And the ass saw the angel of the LORD standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and the ass turned aside out of the way, and went into the field: and Balaam smote the ass, to turn her into the way.
Num 22:24 But the angel of the LORD stood in a path of the vineyards, a wall being on this side, and a wall on that side.
Num 22:25 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she thrust herself unto the wall, and crushed Balaam's foot against the wall: and he smote her again.
Num 22:26 And the angel of the LORD went further, and stood in a narrow place, where was no way to turn either to the right hand or to the left.
Num 22:27 And when the ass saw the angel of the LORD, she fell down under Balaam: and Balaam's anger was kindled, and he smote the ass with a staff.
Num 22:28 And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times?

Num 16:28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Num 16:29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me.
Num 16:30 But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD.

Num 16:34 And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

Num 16:36 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 16:37 Speak unto Eleazar the son of Aaron the priest, that he take up the censers out of the burning, and scatter thou the fire yonder; for they are hallowed.
Num 16:38 The censers of these sinners against their own souls, let them make them broad plates for a covering of the altar: for they offered them before the LORD, therefore they are hallowed: and they shall be a sign unto the children of Israel.
Num 16:39 And Eleazar the priest took the brazen censers, wherewith they that were burnt had offered; and they were made broad plates for a covering of the altar:
Num 16:40 To be a memorial unto the children of Israel, that no stranger, which is not of the seed of Aaron, come near to offer incense before the LORD; that he be not as Korah, and as his company: as the LORD said to him by the hand of Moses.
Three repugnant examples from the history of Israel are provided to depict the false prophets against whom Jude's epistle is directed: (1) Cain represents the heart of a murderer (cf. Gen. 4:1-15). (2) Balaam is typical of the adulterous mind (cf. Num. 22-24). (3) Korah was noted for rebellion against God's chosen leadership (cf. Num. 16:1-40). The evil teachers that occupy Jude's mind are in the mold of these reprehensible characters from Israel's past. The seriousness with which Jude viewed deviant doctrine is readily observed in the description of their spiritual activities in vv. 12 and 13.
(Jude 1:12 KJV) These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
Ye shall know them by their fruits. I also find that John 3:3 says you must be born again, this being the case it has been argued that you could not then lose heaven cause you are now born unto God. Yet Jude is not talking about those who never were born again but rather those that have been and fallen away. Note he says their fruits tell who and what they are and then goes on to say being twice dead. This is indeed in my thinking saying that they died the spiritual death in there hearts after having been born again and Paul refers to several times the warning of not returning to what you once were. If then they have given themselves back to the law of sin they die spiritually and would be as lost as if they never had known him at all. Luke 9:62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God. Sin is the separator between man and God and no one has yet to show me where any sin would be allowed into heaven. Those who claim to love God yet do the works and have the fruit of the flesh are at constant war in the church and though they would not admit to it they are like cancer sores that just grow and grow. The church to day is sick, its lost its sight and is blind, the reason is in these very words, they are clouds with out water. Instead of being filled with the good things they are full of mumerings and hate, deceit and lust for money. The interest is not on teaching, saving or restoring but rather on the same goals of the flesh. There are exceptions to this, yet in over 30 years in the ministry I have yet to find one church that did not have those that were of the flesh. This isn't a bad thing in it self because our goal is to convert them. Yet if the church people do not see it for what it is and sees them as Christians and began to follow there goals and listen to their gainsaying then the church is tore into. We that are spiritual must not lower our selves to allow sin to enter into our hearts. We must stand on his word, and either those who are without will want what we have and long for God's grace or then let them go yet let it be by their choice. What we must do is not let those we know who do not live according to his word influence our church or our lives. Follow after Christ and his Word.

Jer 3:8 And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.
Jer 3:11 And the LORD said unto me, The backsliding Israel hath justified herself more than treacherous Judah.
Jer 3:12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say, Return, thou backsliding Israel, saith the LORD; and I will not cause mine anger to fall upon you: for I am merciful, saith the LORD, and I will not keep anger for ever.

Jer 8:5 Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.

Hosea 11:7 And my people are bent to backsliding from me: though they called them to the most High, none at all would exalt him.
This could well be said oh return backsliding church and I repent and I will restore you.

Again I recommend that you study the Book of Enoch it may not be bible but it is qoted here and certainly had influence on the church leaders.
Most scholars maintain that Jude quotes twice from pseudepigraphal books, notably The Assumption of Moses (v. 9) and The Apocalypse of 1 Enoch (v. 14). Though it is true that both verses contain information not found elsewhere in the Bible, there is a long verbal tradition authenticating Jude's information. Furthermore, the pseudonymous authors of the two pseudepigraphal books may have quoted Jude since the evidence for an early dating of the apocryphal books is not definitive. Jude's account is protected from error, nevertheless, by the Holy Spirit's inspiration, and no harm is done to the doctrine of inspiration or revelation if further evidence supports Jude's indebtedness to the pseudepigraphical literature. Paul quoted the writings of pagan Greek poets and philosophers in Scripture (cf. Acts 17:28 and Titus 1:12). The Holy Spirit is able to incorporate into revelation whatever is consistent with His truth. In this case, Enoch (cf. Gen. 5:18; Heb. 11:5) had obviously prophesied the eventual coming of the Lord with 10,000 of His saints for purposes of judgment.
(Jude 1:15 KJV) To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
(Jude 1:16 KJV) These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
How often I have heard someone rise up in the church and lead many into err because they could speak well. Often they will gather in member's home and convince them that they know the right way and how bad the preacher is or the way the church is going. Beware, if he has to sneak and hide to point out the things he or she feels are so wrong, maybe you better just ask them to pray about and leave you. 1 Cor 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Believers cautioned against being surprised at such deceivers arising among them
(Jude 1:17 KJV) But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
(vv. 17-23) In these verses Jude employs five imperatives as he challenges his readers in their relationship to Jesus Christ. This would indicate linguistically the peak or climax of the letter since no imperatives are used in the first 16 verses. These verbal imperatives are: (1) "remember" (v. 17), (2) "keep" (v. 21), (3) "have compassion" (v. 22), (4) "save" (v. 23), and (5) "have mercy" (v. 23, NU reading).
Jude 1:17: Verses 17-23. Sensual men separate from Christ, and his church, and join themselves to the devil, the world, and the flesh, by ungodly and sinful practices. That is infinitely worse than to separate from any branch of the visible church on account of opinions, or modes and circumstances of outward government or worship. Sensual men have not the spirit of holiness, which whoever has not, does not belong to Christ. The grace of faith is most holy, as it works by love, purifies the heart, and overcomes the world, by which it is distinguished from a false and dead faith. Our prayers are most likely to prevail, when we pray in the Holy Ghost, under his guidance and influence, according to the rule of his word, with faith, fervency, and earnestness; this is praying in the Holy Ghost. And a believing expectation of eternal life will arm us against the snares of sin: lively faith in this blessed hope will help us to mortify our lusts. We must watch over one another; faithfully, yet prudently reprove each other, and set a good example to all about us. This must be done with compassion, making a difference between the weak and the wilful. Some we must treat with tenderness. Others save with fear; urging the terrors of the Lord. All endeavours must be joined with decided abhorrence of crimes, and care be taken to avoid whatever led to, or was connected with fellowship with them, in works of darkness, keeping far from what is, or appears to be evil.
(Jude 1:18 KJV) How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
When someone approaches you with all these concerns look below what they say to what the real motive is. More often then not you will find it's someone own power or goals rather then God's they are looking for.

Some unbelievers will be won to Christ through tenderness and demonstration of compassion; "others we save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh" (v. 23). Attentiveness to the direction of the Holy Spirit in witnessing is crucial.

(vv. 24,25) Jude's moving benediction is a source of assurance for all believers. God is able to keep believers from falling and to present them faultless before God. Clearly salvation is permanent and cannot be forfeited, not because men possess the ability to keep salvation but because God promises to keep believers from falling (cf. Eph. 1:13-14).
Jude 1:24: Verses 24-25. God is able, and as willing as able, to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory. Not as those who never have been faulty, but as those who, but for God's mercy, and a Saviour's sufferings and merits, might most justly have been condemned long ago. All sincere believers were given him of the Father; and of all so given him he has lost none, nor will lose any one. Now, our faults fill us with fears, doubts, and sorrows; but the Redeemer has undertaken for his people, that they shall be presented faultless. Where there is no sin, there will be no sorrow; where there is the perfection of holiness, there will be the perfection of joy. Let us more often look up to Him who is able to keep us from falling, to improve as well as maintain the work he has wrought in us, till we shall be presented blameless before the presence of his glory. Then shall our hearts know a joy beyond what earth can afford; then shall God also rejoice over us, and the joy of our compassionate Saviour be completed. To Him who has so wisely formed the scheme, and will faithfully and perfectly accomplish it, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and for ever. Amen.
