Familiar Faces

In this exercise, you choose someone you know and select a face card to represent that person.  Go with your gut reaction at first, then start to think of particular ways the person's characteristics are similar to your impressions of the face card.  Refer back to the personality and concerns of each face card on the Choosing a Significator page if you are having trouble coming up with ways to find similarities.

Here's an example:

My friend Linda strikes me as a Queen of Diamonds.  She shares the nurturing and practical qualities of this Queen.  I always see the Queen of Diamonds as a person who "takes care of things...people, projects, etc."  Like this Queen, Linda is a security-minded person who likes to stay busy.  She's always trying to make people feel comfortable;  she will cook for you or run errands for you if you're sick and she always says it's no problem at all.  She's a sensitive person but she's well-grounded (she's an accountant) so she gives very practical advice. I see the Queen of Diamonds in much the same way.

Who Am I?

This is another exercise to help you understand the face cards.  Pretend you are one of the face card characters and answer the following questions about "yourself."

What kind of car do you drive and why?
How is your home furnished?
What is your educational background?
What do you do for a living?
What do you do in your spare time?
What peculiar habits do you have?
What is your favorite movie?
How would you describe your family?

Who Am I ? (Part Two)

In this exercise, you will choose one face card and three other cards that can be used to describe the personality of the face card.  Using my Queen of Diamonds example, I might choose the following three cards:

6 of Hearts - giving, loving, sense of duty and responsibility to home and family, protective
9 of Diamonds - self-reliant; practical; independent
8 of Clubs - likes to stay busy and active; good at organizing things
