FRIENDS
A Friend should be Radical; They should love you when you're unlovable, Hug you when you're unhuggable, A bear you when you're unbearable.
A Friend should be Fanaticall They should cheer when the whole world boos, Dance when you get good news, And cry when you cry too.
But most of all, A Friend should be Mathematical, They should multiply the joy, Divide the sorrow, Subtract the past, And add to tomorrow, Calculate the need deep in your heart, And always be bigger than the sum of all their parts.

God didn't promise days without pain, Laughter without sorrow, Sun without rain, But HE did promise strength for the day, Comfort for the tears, And light for the way.

A real friend is one who, when you've made a fool of yourself, doesn't feel that you've done a permanent job. |

WHEN I WAS YOUNGER
When I was in my younger days, I weighed a few pounds less, I needn't hold my tummy in to wear a belted dress.
But now that I am older, I've set my body free; There's comfort of elastic where once my waist would be.
Inventor of those high-heeled shoes my feet have not forgiven; I have to wear a nine now; But used to wear a seven.
And how about those pantyhose-- They're sized by weight, you see So how come when I put them on, the crotch is at my knees?
I need to wear these glassess as the prints were getting smaller; And it wasn't very long ago I know that I was taller.
Though my hair has turned to silver and my skin no longer fits; On the inside, I'm the same old me, Just the outside's changed a bit.

ALWAYS THERE
Hello God, I called tonight To talk a little while I need a friend who'll listen To my anxiety and trial....
You see, I cann't quite make it Through a day just on my own I need you love to guild me, So I'll never feel alone.
I want to ask you please to keep, My family safe and sound, Come fill their lives with confidence For whatever fate they're bound.
Give me faith, dear God, to face Each hour through out the day, And not to worry over things I can't change in any way.
I thank you God, for being home And listening to my call, For giving me such good advice When I stumble and fall.
Your number, God, is the only one That answers every time. I never get a busy signal, Never had to pay a dime.
So thank you, God, for listening To my troubles and my sorrows.

Sometimes our light goes out, but is blown into a flame by another human being. Each of us owes our deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light. Albert Schweitzer |
