McCaskey News and Notes |
McCaskey has many lawsuits pending against other companies for patent infringements with their credit register. We have seen some of the other systems and they look just like the McCaskey Credit Register. Two of the ones we have seen are The Total Accounting System and The Protection Account Cash Register Chest produced in Detroit Michigan. Patented in April of 1923. One Account Register that we have come across that was actually produced for the McCaskey Company was manufactured by The Dominion Register Company in Toronto, Ontario from 1916 to 1920. |

McCaskey was not bought out by The Victor Cash Register Company. McCaskey sold it's cash register program back to Victor. This was in 1953, Victor proceeded to use the McCaskey name on its register systems because McCaskey had developed an excellent reputation. Victor dropped the McCaskey name in 1960. You can see in the pictures below that the machines are almost identical. |

McCaskey's main interest in production was the Credit Register and it's forms. Cash register systems might have been an after thought. When finding out that they required the same type of marketing knowledge and skills they were quite pleased and spent some money developing their name in the register industry. |
