MR. BUN...IS DEAD. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Yes, as shitty as that sounds - Mr. Bun has been put down. He was almost 12 - with is like, Old Testament-old, for a rabbit - and after a bout with testicular cancer (damn thing was as big as one of mine!) he seemed on the mend for some time, but eventually started losing weight at an alarming rate and even feeding him with a syringe couldn't arrest it. Short of force-feeding him packets of lead shot, he looked to be weeks away from drying up and blowing away entirely. So on a cold morning in July 2007, I took him in and, well, that's that. I always pictured playing Moonsorrow's "Matkan Lopussa" in his honour, but I ended up listening to Tori Amos's "Bouncing Off Clouds" like eight times a row in the car on the way out to an emergency family dinner called by my mom, who naturally and maybe not unreasonably feared the event might break my brain.. The 12 years were kind of all over the place for me, but he was always a stable and comforting part of it, which is pretty much the point of having pets I think. No new rabbit...yet. We'll see. Good to know you, little guy. |
