EVIL JUDGMENT
Guilty of being crap

"Where the hell is this stupid movie going?" is a question I frequently asked myself here, in total defiance of the fact that I really didn't care anyway.  We go from some TV news report about a judge, to the escaped mental patient, to some bum pissing in his soup, to two chicks dancing in a cafeteria window, to some Italian throwing his naked girlfriend out of his apartment, and damn if I can tell if the filmmakers were going anywhere with this.  (although I got a kick out of the girl whose best friend keeps trying to convince her that yes, turning to prostitution will solve all her problems) Yeah, something eventually happens, but it's a long while getting there.

This Canadian film has Pamela Collyer as this girl who is convinced by her hooker best friend to join her in a threesome-for-hire for a rich, retired judge.  Some maniac kills the friend and the doctor, though, and the drug- and alcohol-addled girl wanders off and is picked up by the cops, who think she tried to kill herself and staunchly refuse to believe anything she says.

The dialogue sucks all around, and on so many levels.  Sometimes, it goes for a hard-boiled kind of thing, with spectacular failure ("A videotape says otherwise." "A videotape shot by Santa's little helpers?").  Other times, it's just really, really dumb (one guy comes across and VCR and says "Hey look at this!  It's one of those video-cassette machines!"  Were these that rare even in 1984 that this needed pointing out?).

Basically, it's just an endless parade of female throats slashed with a scalpel, punctuated by all that hilariously stupid dialogue.  I can see the appeal here for bad-movie buffs, but everyone else should stay away.  I like the occasional awful movie, but I'm just not that desperate for a fix right now.

Directed by Claude Castrovelli; filmed in Montreal.  I do think it's kind of cool, however, that the closing-credits music just keeps right on going, past the credits, past the copyright notice, right into nothingness.
