FRIDAY THE 13th: THE FINAL CHAPTER
You didn't believe it even then, did you?

Nobody believed it then, but everybody went to see it anyway, and they were all proven right. The so-called "Final Chapter" wasn't even the halfway point for the series.

Picking up about an hour and a half after the last one left off, one can only logically conclude that parts 2, 3, and 4 all take place on one long weekend. So really, by the time part 5 rolls around, real life time should catch up to that 5-year jump that Part 2 made. (no such luck - Part 5 did the 5-year thing again) Cops come, haul Jason's presumed-dead ass off to the morgue, where he comes to, does some killin' and walks all the way back to Crystal Lake. There, he meets another houseload of partying teens, and next door, a small family. The family will probably be fine, you should know, because there's no way they're gonna have Jason killing a kid, or leave him completely without guardians.

This one probably has the most interesting cast of any Friday movie. It has Crispin Glover (with, gasp, some margin of personality), who would goon to be known as McFly until he had to pretty much stop making movies. Also features Peter Barton (soap actor), Corey Feldman...the list goes on. And the guy who plays Jason, Ted White, actually appears to have made a career out of acting, unlike most Friday graduates, who presumably...haven't. Most importantly, though, it has Tom Savini! No, not in the cast (that would've livened things up), but as makeup guy, so you know he's gonna deliver the goods. A cleaver in the face for one guy is my favorite - it gets even better when he's nailed up in a doorway by his hands, and then rrrripped right off the spikes! I love it. There's even some okay suspense here, amazingly.

Goofiest death: Jason's, actually. It's great, but man, his skull must be seriously soft.

Of weird note - one guy in the cast plays the role of a guy who wants revenge against Jason for killing his sister. Uh, hello? Jason only killed in the last two movies, which took place on the same weekend.  So how did this guy already a) know his sister was dead, b) know his sister was murdered, c) know his sister was murdered by Jason, d) figure on Jason not being stopped by anybody else, ande) get all the way out to Crystal Lake? Granted, none of this is impossible, but don't it stink like bullshit to you? Ah, it's a Friday the 13th movie. Plot ain't the strong suit.

Overall, this isn't bad for what it is, mostly because of the occasional cast member and Savini's work. Directed by Joseph Zito, who cranked out a few really bad action movies and disappeared.
