THE TORTURE CHAMBER
OF BARON BLOOD

Wow, what a title!

Yeah, I know that its theatrical title was just Baron Blood, but this one sounds a lot more lurid.

It was Italian horror weekend here - at a point when I'd been comparatively unversed in its ways, I decided to give it a few more tries.
House By The Cemetery was middling, but I liked this one quite a bit.

My previous experience with Bava was a little more  pleasant than that with Fulci, so I wasn't as apprehensive about this one (yes, I saw it sober)...and found it really enjoyable.

The plot is, well, typical Italian nonsense (does anybody really see Italian horror movies for the plot?), but it's basically Bava that makes this one fun.  Lots of great locations, fun romps through the castle, and some nice, ghoulish moments.  It even had a good sense of humor (I just loved the "head".  Best severed-head joke I've seen since...well, again, in Ran with the fox head)...not something I so far have associated with Italian horror.

Again, it was the cut version I got to see (around here, is there any other kind?)...but it was certainly worth my while.

So, those more versed in this flick than I... just what
were those missing eight minutes?
