During the UAE postal
administration, 13 different cancels were used, that does not include the
last Independent postal administration (Type 7),
which continued to be used during the UAE postal administration. All types
are steel cancels except Type 8 and 19 are made from rubber.
Type 8
The double circle
cancel (Type 8) is the first type
that made to be used during the UAE postal administration. The rubber cancel
inscribed “RAS AL KHAIMAH / U.A.E.” in Arabic and English and known
used in two different inks, violet and black.

cancel (Type 9) is the second UAE
postal administration cancel. The cancel inscribed
“RAS AL-KHAIMA, UAE” in
Arabic and English and also known used with two different inks, violet and
black.

Ras al Khaimah double
circle numbered cancel (Type 10) is
the third type that introduced during the UAE postal administration. The
cancel inscribed "RAS AL KHAIMAH / 5" in Arabic and English
and numbered “1, 2, 3, 4, and 5”.
The Registered Double Circle Cancel

The registered double
circle cancel (Type 11), which
inscribed “RAS AL KHAIMAH / R-3” in Arabic and English, is the first type
that used for registered mail only. All the earlier types were known used for
both ordinary and registered mail at the same time. This type is introduced
in the central post office in Ras al Khaima only.

parcel double circle cancel (Type 12)
was introduced in the central post office in Ras al Khaima. The cancel
inscribed “RAS AL KHAIMAH / P-1” in Arabic and English.
Gezira Hamra Double Circle Numbered Cancel

Gezira Hamra post office
was opened in 1975 in Ras al Khaima, at the same day of the opening the post
office the Gezira Hamra double circle cancel (Type
13) which, inscribed “GEZIRA HAMRA” in Arabic and English
was introduced. The cancel is used for ordinary and registered mail.
Nakheel Double Circle Numbered Cancel

Nakheel double circle
numbered cancel (Type 14) was introduced
in 1977 when the first post office was opened in the eastern part of Ras al
Khaima which, known as Nakheel. The cancel inscribed “NAKHEEL / 3” in
Arabic and English and numbered “1, 2, and 3”. The
cancel is used for ordinary and registered mail.

Rams double circle
cancel was introduced in 1970s, and the cancel inscribed “RAMS / 1” in
Arabic and English.
Digdaga Double Circle Cancel

was opened in 1985 in Al Kharran area, the first cancel was Digdaga double
circle cancel (Type 16) introduced
in 1985 and inscribed “DIGDAGA / 1” in Arabic and English.
Shaam Double Circle Cancel

cancel (Type 17) was introduced in
1977 when the post office was opened in Shaam. The cancel inscribed “SHAAM
/ 1” in Arabic and English.

Two different Machine
cancels known used in Ras al Khaima during the UAE postal administration, the
first type (Type 18) inscribed “RAS
AL KHAIMAH” in Arabic and English and with a line separate the day and
the month from the year. The second type (Type
18a) is same as the first type but the line is under the year.

Idhen
double circle cancel (Type 19) introduced
on April 6th, 1987. The cancel is the only postal agency that used in Ras al
Khaima. It inscribed "Postal Agency No. 6 / IDHEN" in Arabic
and English.
