The election was long and hard-fought. Ugandans elected President Ali G with 12.8% of the vote. The fact that over 130 candidates ran against president Museveni, and Museveni's poor opinion ratings in the poll, made Ali G, popular television reporter, a shoe-in for the presidency. He had both name recognition and widespread admiration from the Ugandan youth. The age demographics 18-24 year olds voted overwhelmingly for Ali G, causing his rise to power.

Ali G has portrayed himself as a man of the people. His goal is to please all, especially women. He has actively sought to reward the most beautiful women in Africa by providing them with a lavish lifestyle. Meanwhile, he has denounced the harems of several Arab countries including Two Lands, Libya, and Chuda as well as the practice of Female Genital Mutilation which he feels is counter-productive..
