Elizabeth (White) Selfe married Feb , 1831 in the parish church of East
Wood(something). Daughter Emma Molly Selfe both March 3, 1832. Emma married
Edwin Mortock when she was 34 years old. They were my Great Grandparents.

My Selfs are from Market Lavington. The earliest I have is James Self,
Razorgrinder and Tinker! and his wife Sarah. Of their 8 children, William, my 2G grandfather, was born at ML on 22 March 1808. Married Catherine and had 7 children. These included Sophia and Sarah. Which of them is my 1G grandmother is a puzzle - the birth certificate of my grandfather Ernest James Newman says his mother is Sophia Self but the census a few years later says his mother is Sarah!
I have been given quite a lot of material on the Quaker Selfs of ML
from a correspondent at ML who kindly looked up records for me and there is more about them in a book - B. McGill, Village Under the Plain. The Story of Market Lavington, Warminster 1995. But I cannot yet fit my James Self into the quaker list which stretches from the 1600s to the mid-1700s. I would be glad to hear from anyone who has a fuller tree for the ML Selfs. I am trying to find any information regarding the marriage of John Lawrence ROSENDALE and Sarah SELFE (daughter of Caleb and Martha nee Belcher) who married at All Saints Church in Burwood, in October 1903. If there are any descndents out there, I would especially love to hear from you.
