"JOLLY RUBINO"

The Jolly Rubino, an Italian 31,362 GT Cargo RoRo vessel, ran aground after a fire off the KwaZulu coast of Natal, South Africa in September 2002, causing huge pollution alarm bells. A week later, some of her containers were found mysteriously FLOATING 600 miles north ! These can present big dangers, because although they are technically floating, "floating" containers, washed overboard, are often just below the surface (given their weight) and a REAL danger to other ships. Perhaps container owners need to consider Collision Liability insurance, not for the ship, but for their own containers !
