St. Apostles John and James Ev.Lutheran Church

(Ternopil, Ukraine)

Ukrainian Lutheran Church

Ternopil Evangelical Lutheran Congregation was founded in 1992-1993 as congregation of Ukrainian Lutheran Church. This year we celebrate 10th anniversary. Ternopil is a small and wonderful town in Western Ukraine close to Poland. It was founded in 1540.

There are about 200 members in our congregation now. We hope with God's help build our own church building some day and now are using rental building for worships, Sunday Bible School and Bible classes. Every summer we have Vacation Bible School and use it to spread the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ here in our town. More than 140 children are visiting our VBS every year. This project is a project both of Mission Society "Thoughts of Faith" and Ukrainian Lutheran Church.

To spread the Good News of Jesus Christ we are using many ways, including sharing Bibles and Christian literature, cooperation with International Charitable Fund "Gift of Life", helping people in needs.

As Ukrainians we treasure our cultural and historical roots and mentality that is why we are using Byzantine rite to worship our heavenly Father. This is a beauty of our worship as well as Western tradition is a beauty our of Christian brothers and sisters in America and Europe.

We invite you visit this modest web page to see some pictures of our church's activities.

With love in our Lord,
Pastor Taras Kokovsky
