Lucas glanced at the surroundings of Mure and at the school he had gone to for only a year. He walked silently on the grounds and glanced in the windows to see students passing to different classes. He wondered if any of the students he had remembered were still there as teachers. Hai looked around his surroundings and noticed that during his little tirade, the fog had thinned. "It's too dangerous, can't let anyone see me." He thought to himself. Hai sighed, "Well, I'll leave it up to you. Continue to be mad and harbor that arrogance if you want. As for me, I have to go. I look forward to meeting you under more pleasant circumstances." Keeping the young man's face in his mind, Hai gestured with his hand, felt the fog respond to his call, and disappeared back into the mist, as silent as he had come. Fiona was sitting in the back of Orron's class. The young girl looked rather out of place in the class, appearing to be nearly four years younger than the rest of the class. Speeding through the assigned quiz, the child's eyes never left the console screen. With five minutes remaining for the quiz, Fiona saved the file and set down her console, folding her hands in her lap. On the console was a nearly word for word explanation of Donahue's experiments directly from the reading assignment. Fiona kicked her feet slightly, which didn't quite touch the ground, waiting for the rest of the class to finish. Laveda finished her quiz, saving it out and waiting for Ms. Lunetta to ask for them to turn their tests in. Quietly, she stretched her arms out in front of her, making sure not to distract anyone around her. Glancing about, she pulled a book out of her bag about summoning and began to read quietly. Kalaya's dark eyes turned to look to Forest, their inner depths softening somewhat as she gave her surrogate daughter a cool, crisp smile, "Why, my child? We need to prove our power with that summon.. need to prove we're unstoppable. Plus.. I want that pathetic army of summoners to understand true pain... to understand how sweet vengeance is," Kaos smirked, her dark eyes flashing with life, anticipating the day of reckoning. "They need to understand that this world is pathetic, along with everyone on it... that it is ours for the taking and ours to dispose of. Do you understand, child?" The Black Rose looked to Forest at those words. Akiko sat down in class, placing her bag down beside her seat as the bell for her school rang and classes began. The teacher was suddenly interrupted as the smiling figure of the principal of the school appeared on the videoscreen of the classroom and gave the mornings announcements... including one that Vashti was going to be visiting the school for a photoshoot along with the Guntai school sometime in the afternoon. Ko rolled her eyes, glancing out a window to Mure. She watched a bird fly past, her hand going to the pendant on her neck and her fingers interlacing with the chain. People around her began gossiping.. again.. as soon as the principal finished and the teacher began asking everyone to calm down so class could truly begin. The mist thickened outside of Orron Lunetta's classroom again when Hai returned. As he sat at the base of a tree, watching the class and Orron's every move, he felt a twinge of loneliness. All this time, whenever he was alone, he only had himself to turn to. Sighing, Hai sat back and wondered when he could finally reveal himself to Orron. Sad, lonely, and contemplating, Hai began to manipulate the fog, not caring if anyone in the classroom saw or not. His hands moving in intricate patters, Hai conjured up an image of his father, the late-Sea Dragon King. His father had died of unknown circumstances and all Hai had to remember him by was the family sword and a pendant. Both held immense value and power within them. Muttering a few choice words, Hai formed his father's court as he remembered it: His father reclining on the inside of a giant clam, watching the dolphins dance in front of him, soothing him. Watching this image made Hai feel homesick. "Perhaps my true place is in the sea. Ever since father died, no one has taken the throne although there is peace and quiet in there, there will be a time when a ruler will have to be named," Hai thought. He shook his head. No. No matter what, he was going to live with his fellow humans first. Though he was the ruler of the sea by birth, the sea could survive on its own for now. Neither caring nor noticing if the students and Orron saw him or not, Hai, with tears pouring down his eyes unnoticed, began to create a whole troupe of dancing dolphins, desperately try to find a way to soothe his aching heart. Fiona blinked, catching something from the corner of her eye. The young child turned to look out the window and blinked again, this time at what she saw. Staring the dancing dolphins, Fiona opened her mouth to tell the teacher what was happening outside. She suddenly thought better and closed her mouth, standing slowly, walking over to the window. Fiona put one hand against the window, staring at the dolphins and the boy who had created them. She smiled softly, seeing the tears running down the boy's cheeks. Understanding seemed to shine through the young child's eyes. Hai stopped, suddenly noticing that a young girl was looking at him through the window of the classroom. "How did my mist thin out on me?" he thought. He finally gave up wondering how and just focused on finishing the dolphin dance. The illusionary dance was coming to the end, just as it usually did when his father sat in court. When the dance ended, Hai dispersed the dolphins and turned to look at the young girl staring at him. He smiled, seeing her smile, finally knowing that somebody probably understood his pain. Waving his hand at her, he motioned to her, not caring anymore whether or not his presence was announced to the class because either way, his face was hidden. "Fiona," Orron's voice snapped, "return to your seat now. The rest of you stay in your seats." The Guntai teacher had seen the boy suddenly appear outside her door and had been watching him out of the corner of her eye. He hadn't appeared to be a Meshi but she knew he wasn't one of the students; Orron always remembered all her students. Either he was a particularly dumb boy who had managed to sneak in or... Orron was up from her seat and to the door of her class room with three strides as thoughts and information quickly ran through her head. She opened the door with a snap, shut it behind her just as quick, and crossed her arms, glaring at Hai with narrow eyes. She noticed the tears and something inside of her softened, but not enough to keep her from slipping her hand discreetly around her gun in her chest holster. "Can I help you, young man?" she asked, her voice stern but still gentle, making sure not to scare the obviously upset boy. "Yes, you want them to realize that they are only alive because we allow them to be, and we could kill them any time we wish. But Mother," Forest walked over and knelt in front of her surrogate parent, "aren't we risking too much? By allowing them to still train students, it inbreeds their false and futile hope into even more pests. And what could be even worse, if the Serelis hasn't been bounded to anyone yet, it may bond to one of the Guntai when they pass their test." "Yes Ms. Lunetta," said Fiona quickly as the thirteen year old scampered back to her seat as fast as she could. The girl's voice sounded rather fearful, as if she was afraid she would be punished. The child watched what was going on from her seat, hoping that nothing bad would happen to the poor boy... He had been so sad, she had only wanted to make him feel better... Medea turned her attention back to notice a paper on her desk. She sighed as she looked up at the clock. "Class isn't even over." she muttered to herself. She glanced at the test and just decided to finish it with or not the answers were right. She sped down the paper just scribbling down what she knew. She finished the test with in a matter of seconds and laid her head on her right arm as she sighed and closed her eyes. She could feel herself falling into a light sleep. |
