The Ultimate Sports Grillers defeated the Austin Greyhounds 3-2 in a game that was only scheduled for seven innings due to time constraints, but ended up going the full nine innings. The Grillers led 2-1 going into the seventh, but Austin tied the game with a two-out, RBI-single. In the top of the ninth, Austin got a two-out base hit with a runner on second, but Aaron Rocheleau's throw to the plate was perfect and the game went on. In the bottom of the inning, Mike Holman led off with a single, stole second, moved up to third on an error, and scored the winning run on another error. Holman and Andy Waletzko both finished the game 2-for-5 with a run scored and Ryan Quinn also had two hits to lead the Grillers' nine hit attack. Paul Eich picked up his fourth straight win on the mound and second consecutive complete game. He scattered eight hits, walked four, and struck out five in his nine innings of work.
The Grillers fell behind 1-0 after an inning, but answered with two runs in the bottom of the second. Waletzko singled, Jason Wald walked, and Quinn singled to load the bases. Lincoln Haugen beat out a double play to score Waletzko with the first run and Brent Putz followed with a single to score Wald. The game was scoreless until the seventh, when Austin tied the game at 2-2. In the bottom of the ninth, Holman singled and stole second. After an out, Brent Schloe was intentionally walked and Rocheleau reached on an error to load the bases. Waletzko then hit a ground ball between the second baseman's legs and Holman came in with the winning run.
