The Ultimate Sports Grillers defeated the Becker Bandits 9-2 on Tuesday night at Joe Faber Field. The Grillers scored all of their runs in the first five innings and pounded out 13 hits in the game while playing error-free on defense. Leading the offense was Brent Schloe, who went 4-for-5 with a double, run scored, and two RBIs. Casey Haugen was 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBIs and Andy Waletzko added two hits, including a triple, and two RBIs. Paul Eich got the win on the mound by going six strong innings, allowing two runs on four hits, walking three, and striking out five. Chad Schwegel pitched the final three innings, allowing just one walk and striking out four to pick up the save.
Becker scored a run in the top of the first to jump out early, but the Grillers came back with two in the bottom of the inning on an RBI-single by Schloe to score Haugen and an RBI-single by Waletzko to score Aaron Rocheleau. Ultimate scored two more in the second on an RBI-single by Haugen that scored Lincoln Haugen and a fielder's choice/error by Jason Kotschevar that scored Eich. In the third, an RBI-triple by Brent Putz scored Eich and Casey Haugen followed with an RBI-single to score Putz and put the Grillers up 6-1. The Grillers scored one run in the fourth when Waletzko tripled home Schloe. In the fifth, Kotschevar singled home Eich and Schloe singled home Putz to make the score 9-1. Becker added another run in the sixth, but neither team scored again after that.
