The Ultimate Sports Grillers blew a 7-2 lead on Tuesday night in Brainerd and lost 12-7 to the Bees at Mills Park. The Bees scored 10 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on just two hits as the Grillers committed two errors and allowed seven walks. Of the 12 runs allowed by the Grillers in the game, only three were earned and the Bees were held to just four hits in the game. Offensively, the Grillers pounded out 11 hits, led by Mike Holman's 3-for-4 performance. Jason Kotschevar finished 2-for-2 with three walks as well and six other Grillers all had one hit. Paul Eich took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs, three of which were earned, on three hits and five walks while striking out two.
The Grillers jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the top of the second on Ryan Quinn's RBI-single that scored Jason Wald. Jason Kotschevar followed Wald in after the center fielder bobbled the ball. Casey Haugen singled later in the inning to score Brent Putz and Mike Holman followed Putz in when the right fielder's throw went wide of home. The Bees came back with two runs in the bottom of the second after a dropped foul ball with two outs and runners on second and third was followed by a wild pitch and a single. The Grillers responded in the fourth with back-to-back RBI-singles by Brent Schloe and Aaron Rocheleau. Kotschevar drew a bases-loaded walk to put the Grillers up 7-2 and that would be all the scoring for the Grillers as they managed just three hits the rest of the game.
