Game Summary

The Ultimate Sports Grillers finished the annual Saint Cloud Sports Inc. Amateur Baseball Tournament 2-0 with a nice 6-1 victory over the Midway Snurdbirds at sun-drenched Dick Putz Field on Sunday afternoon.  Paul Eich pitched 8 1/3 impressive innings to pick up his first win as a Griller.  He allowed a solo home run in the first inning, but just three singles after that.  Eich also struck out four and walked two.  Lincoln Haugen finished the game for the Grillers on the mound, retiring the only two batters he faced in the ninth after the Snurdbirds put two runners on with just one out.  On the offensive end, the Grillers had 11 hits, including two each by Aaron Rocheleau, Jason Kotschevar, and Brent Putz.  Rocheleau finished with two RBIs, Kotschevar scored twice, and Mike Holman added a two-run single to lead the Grillers.

Trailing 1-0 after one inning, the Grillers came back to score two in the top of the second on a two-out single by Holman that score Kotschevar and Jason Wald.  Ultimate scored once in the third on an RBI-single by Andy Waletzko that plated Kotschevar, once in the fourth on an RBI-single by Rocheleau that plated Casey Haugen, once in the fifth on an RBI-double by Putz that plated Wald, and once in the eighth on an RBI-single by Rocheleau that plated Holman.
