808 is a new group consisting of Crook, Ameerah, Roc and they are coming out of Alabama. The album drops on Amadi Records, and has features from Paper, Fetti, and Jennifer Johnson.
The album starts off with "Club Livin (Shake Sumthin)" and this beat is sort of a dark get buck feel, has that southern bounce anticipation effect going to it, that we coming effect as some call it. This is a club track, you should already know that from the title, shake that ass girl, get with me up in the club type of raps. The initial listen is always important. You got them all dropping solid verses, main guy rapping has more of a lyrical flow and the female Ameerah comes with a solid verse, nothing stand from her rap and typical female rap for the clubs.
"Riding Dirty" is the next track and it already sounding better, this beat is some riding hard in the hood box chevy type of shit, the group really getting down on this one talking about rides, spinners, chevys, they cutlasses, you know how they do it in the south, ride dirty like UGK bitch.
"The Dro Song"-- this beat is slowed as fucked, this shit makes you feel like you blowed as fuck, they really getting down on this track, this one makes you want to grab a blunt and just get blowed till you knocked the fuck out, raps are coming solid as fuck, like all smoke songs they usually turn out good and this is no exception, jam it.
"Hey Shawty"-- this one is on the radio/holla a female type of feel, some real pimpin music. This one is a song all us fellas can relate to all too well, basically we see that fine ass shawty that be having our dick bout ready to pop out our phants when they looking as fine as they is.
"Rush"-- this beat starts off with some real hard dark gritty southern piano, some of that dirty living shit. This one makes you get like semi buck, this one makes you feel like the feeling you got before you bout to box, the adrenaline bout to rush its just that one thing that going to tick you off and make you just go off, the raps are coming good once again, its been impressive since the first track which had you having mixed feelings.
"Heated"-- this one has them hard ass swamp horns, you’ve heard if from Louisina and Florida, now Alabama. This is some get up, get pumped shit, I'm hot, I'm on fire, bitch I'm heated watch the fuck out because anyone in 808’s way is going to catch a blast.
"Nobody" is the next track and this one, got one of them beats that make you want to look back in life and take all the wrong back, forgive me type beat. This track is deep, manne he really giving you a great hook and great flows, this shit is deep and heartfelt, this is a good deep ass struggle track, if you have ever felt pain and endured hard times listen this one may have you a little weary.
"To My Hood"-- this one has all them hard ass violins and piano going to it, real symphonic and orchestra hood type shit. This is a track dedicated to all the thugs on the block, totting guns, not worrying about dying, living day in day out not scared of a damn thing, that’s how life is, that’s what they letting you know.
"Nah Nah"-- this track got a real heavy ass baseline, this one is something that could get the ladies in the club moving but at the same time you can pump this in the ride and bob your head. The hook is creative it got like little kids going Nah Nah but in a crunk fashion, this is like lets starts some drama type shit, grab you up out your house and and bring you out in the front your for an ass whipping.
"Club Livin (Remix)" was a little skeptical after hearing the first one, its an aight track, something that most folks in the club or females can soak up, could the remix be better? The beat is pretty simple, nothing much more catchy but does have a harder down south feel going to it, a lot of tracks on the album outshine this track all together but the club shit is hot right now so guess you have to go with whats hot.
The production done by F Morris, S King, Noonie, Big Juice, was a great southern mixture. What does that mean? Basically they had an all around south sound, the producers really meshed what the south was and mixed it all into one, not really classified as a Alabama rap sound, just South in general. Got some of the typical south bounce, some real tag em up rush em crunk shit, or just some kick back slow country im bout to get fucked up music, its all their. The female in the group Ameerah isn’t on the album as much as she should be, its more often the two guys really rapping on the tracks, when she does make appearances she is off and on, she sometimes comes tight and then she sometimes comes as the typical female, same old female rhymes. The other two cats Crook & Roc did a good job on this album, we are not talking about the south’s next sensations but they could continue to make albums and sell because they have the right chemistry to make good songs. Got the deep voiced gritty guy and the more mellow rapper to compliment him, its always abstracts in groups which make for success because everyone is standout and not the same. UGK, Eightball& MJG, you get the idea they all hold their own even though they are in a group. Overall, a album full of solid to good tracks, this is one of the albums you can listen to and really just have no complaints, it’s a well put together album something you can appreciate.
