C-Murder - "TRU Dawgs"

C-Murder drops his latest album on TRU Records and it is more of a compilation album than a solo effort. In fact, C-Murder only appears on 5 of the album's 20 tracks and this is the album's downfall.

1. Intro-- the intro got a dog barkin in the rain in the background and it's two guys talking over an eerie beat with shots being fired at the end. I think they could have rapped over that beat and made a nice song if they chose to.

2. I'm A Baller (C-Murder, Mac, T-Bo, & XL)-- pretty nice song with good beats and tight lyrics from C-Murder, Mac, & T-Bo. T-Bo shows signs of a promising career.

3. Dogged Her Out (Snoop Dogg)-- this has to be one of the worst songs on the entire album. There wasn't anything about this song that I liked.

4. Ain't No Pimpin (Chan & Storm)-- this is a track from Snoop's Doggy's Angels. I am not too big a fan of Doggy's Angels so I'll be hittin skip on this track. It's not a terrible track but it's not what I choose to listen to.

5. Water Whipped (The Cutt Throat Committee)-- this is one of the best tracks on the album. Heavy bass beats and pretty tight verses from The Cutt Throat Committee.

6. Where The Party At? (Master P, Krazy, Silkk, & Bass Heavy)-- this is something that I'd expect to find on Master P's album in terms of being radio friendly. I'm actually he didn't use "wodie" once in his verse. Maybe the song would be better if they got Nate Dogg to sing the hook.

7. This Or That (C-Murder & Keala)-- this is pretty tight song. C-Murder lays down some tight lyrics but it almost sounds like he is rappin over the telephone. The hook is kinda annoying but it's nice to actually hear C-Murder on this album.

8. Interlude-- Mac freestyles verses from prison over the telephone. He shows that he's still got it.

9. Respect My Mind (T-Bo & Malachi)-- T-Bo holds his own this track. But the production is really lacking on here. T-Bo drops nice verses though.

10. Just Like That (Keith Murray)-- this track seemed really out of place on this album. It has a really distinctive East Coast feel to it. I just thought the track didn't belong.

11. They Wanna Pay For It (Mia X)-- this is an OK track. It seems like more of a dance track though. Mia X ain't comin with that fire like she did in the early No Limit days.

12. Tru Dawgs (Wayne-Go)-- this is a pretty nice track. Good beats and nice flow from Wayne-Go.

13. Interlude-- just a bunch of talkin about TRU Records.

14. That Ain't Right (Currency The Hot Spitter & XL)-- this is a tight track but is it just me or does Currency sound a little like Jadakiss? Anyway, this is one track I can bump over and over. Tight beats on this one.

15. Souja Down (Tre-Nitty)-- another track with tight beats and solid verses.

16. What's The Reason? (C-Murder & Keala)-- the heavy bass kicks in and C-Murder is flowing his ass off and making me wish this album was his solo.

17. Front Line Homies (L-Burna, Bizzy Bone, & Big B)-- those of you may be familiar with this song from Bone Thugs N Harmony's "Vol 2" album. It's a tight song but it doesn't really belong on C-Murder's album.

18. Got It On My Mind (Junie Bezel)-- I got nothing to say about this track. Just a female rapper rappin over an OK beat.

19. How A Thug Nigga Likes It (C-Murder, DaBrat, & Jermaine Dupri)-- JD doesn't actually rap on this track but C-Murder and DaBrat trade verses on here. Solid beats on this track. Nice song.

20. Betya (hidden track)-- C-Murder lets loose on this track and calls out Juvenile and Mystikal personally. He calls Mystikal a ho and everything. He also calls out Cash Money and everyone who left NL on bad terms. This track got a dark, eerie beat to it. Tight song.

Overall, the production is better than C-P-3.com. And even though I knew this album was a compilation album, I expected C-Murder to appear on more tracks than he did. The album does have some bright spots but it seems like the record label rushed this album and just slapped together whatever tracks it could. I don't recommend this album at all unless you just gotta have it.
