After dropping the masterpiece "Max Pain" Maxminelli is back for Volume 2 of the Minelli World Mixtapes. It has features from Happy P, J-Von, Reno, Flow, Blackman, Russell Lee, Diddy Boy, & many more.
1. "Intro" Max just kicking this bitch off introducing the mixtape...get ready
2. "Thug N My Own Rhyme" can it be, what a classic chosen beat right here, follows in the footsteps of southern vets Ball & G by using the Pimp N My Own Rhyme beat. The hook pretty much is the same as the classic cut but just "Thug N My Own Fucking Rhyme - Bitch Im - Thug N My Own Fucking Rhyme". Max comes hard on the track, handles his biz does not let the classic get ruined like some rappers tend to do. A great track to start things out, makes you kick back and think of times when southern music was at its best.
3. "Thuggin Like Its Legal Part 2" beat is pretty much the same as original, mid tempo just clean gets the head bobbing but gritty and southern at the same time. Max Minelli coming with it on this one, this that hard ass gritty block shit right here, he brings it like a monster to the track, good verse after good verse. The hook is clean goes a little something like this "You Say You Raw We Don?t Believe Yah Cuz Me And My People Out Here Thuggin Like Its Legal - Ridin Dirty In The Regal That's Me My People Thuggin Like Its Legal - With Chrome Plated Desert Eagle That's Me And My People Out Here Thuggin Like Its Legal - We Trying To Stop Doing Evil But Me Any My People Out Here Thuggin Like Its Legal".
4. "Rep Ya Town" (Ft Reno) beat is pretty simple but gets the head bobbing, sounds like one of them gutter type of beats, real slum and hoodish type of deal. Someone is featured on this one and he comes out spitting pretty good opens up the track to get you listening. The hook goes something like this "Put Your Flag In The Air- Rep Your Town - Don't Let Them Pussy Shut You Down". Max Minelli pretty much keeps it consistent and drops another couple clean verses talking about don't be a bitch rep your area and be proud of it, just like petey said Raise Up.
5. "I Been There" (Ft Reno & Blackman) slower beat, you already know when the beat comes in this is going to be one of them struggle type of tracks. Max & Company talking all the rough times you have to endure in life, death, killing, poverty, all that hard shit that makes you the man you become. The hook is another solid one has that repetitive sample scratch feel to it "Think You Done Felt Pain (I Been There) - Lost Somebody You Loved (I Been There) - Struggling All Your Life (I Been There)".
6. "Freestyle" (Ft J-Von) beat is just simple something to just get your flow on too. Max hooks up with his partner from Lay Lo J-Von and they both just spitting some off the head type verses, both of them coming clean, not really a song here just check the two boys rip a quick verse.
7. "We Run Dis" (Ft Blackman & Reno) these brings you back to the older C-Loc days, has that swampy type of beat with them certain effects you check it out and you will see. The hook is the chant deal "We Run Dis Summah A Bitch (We Run Dis in Background)". Max & his camp boys share responsibilities on this track and everyone pretty much holding their own and dropping some clean verses, step back its Camp life and they run this bitch.
8. "Getting Money With" (Ft Blackman & Reno) pretty monotone beat has some simple drums and a decent appeal to it. Max Minelli starts the track off and he pretty much lays another good verse on us, no surprise seems like he comes to please every time. The hook is not bad he talking about this song is for all the people he kick it with and make money with. The rest of the click gets a little shine on this track and assist with a few solid verses, Reno is a nice standout I feel a solo album is in the works for this man.
9. "Pimp Juice" This beat sounds like some undercover agent meets some pimp shit all meshed into one track. Max coming with the pimp shit for this track and he flips the track well, nice lyrics and no chorus on this one he just keep on spitting hard all throughout. It has you taking a breath because he sure doesn?t, he just spitting for 3 minutes straight about macking and pimping these hoes the Max Pain way.
10. "High Priced Cologne" (J-Von Solo) beat is on that dramatic type of tip, has the symphonic hard bass orchestra feel going to it. This is a track from J-Von?s upcoming solo called Grind Mode, if you don't know he is the other half of Lay Low in which him and max are in. J-Von comes good on this track, it should break things open for him, he talking about being fresh and clean and having that high priced cologne that make them panties wetter than a broken waterbed. The hook, verses, lyrics, everything real clean on this one go ahead and bump this one.
11. "This Is How" hard gritty block hustler music right here, has that Louisiana swamp twist going to it, good beat. The hook goes something like this "This Is How You Come - For All My Folks On The Corner With The Guns - This Is How You Come - By Any Means Necessary Get It Done - This Is How You Come". Max talking about quite a bit of shit on this track, he talking about bootlegging on this one and the bootleg man that be on the corner. Talking about how you taking money out his pockets and food out his family's mouth, don't fuck with a man's money because we all know how that ends up, consequences that could of been avoided.
12. "My Closet Friends" This is a slower beat makes, this is the type of shit that just make you think and reminisce on shit that is going on in your life. Max & Family talking about how you got to keep the ones that are your real friends close to you and fuck the rest of these motherfuckers out here hating on you. They the ones just talking shit, being an ass just because you and your folks doing it and they not, cherish the ones that are important to you in life they will always be there just like family.
13. "Gladiator" (Ft Russell Lee, Happy P) slower track right here, one of them we got to make it through these hard times don?t let the shit defeat us. Max Minelli spitting the truth on this one, this man can spit and relate to you in different ways and he does that on this track getting on the deeper shit. Just kick back and listen let this man spit his knowledge another clean max cut that goes down with the many other bumpables in his library of tracks.
14. "Savage" (Ft Reno & Blackman) beat is bouncy, has sort of that guns bust cash money type of vibe which most can relate it to. The hook is on sort of a slowed down tip "Im A Thug, A Clown, A Savage Too". A track that more features his partners and they both drop some solid verses and give you a taste of what they can offer as artists and not just being side rappers to Minelli.
15. "Old School" (Russell Lee Solo) this is a solo track by Russell Lee who can sing his ass off and does production as well. He brings in back to the olden times on this track, this might be a little too old and different for some of the younger folks but if you appreciate the older classics and some laid back southern country funk then this track is for you.
16. "Simple & Plain" (Ft Lay Lo) beat is clean, that nice kick back southern country blues type of deal. This was on the Lay Lo album that come out called Simple & Plain, if you haven't heard that album check it out, it was a younger max and he was still ripping it back in them days. A clean track to end things out, bring some of the newer fans back to where it all started for this soon to be star.
Overall, the production done by Russell Lee & Happy P was pretty much what you expect from these two producers. They rarely ever come with beats that can be considered weak, its pretty much beats you can really get into and if not something at least capable of being bumpable. Mixtapes are pretty much everywhere now, you cant seem to avoid them but rather filter through whats good and whats bad. With that in mind there are different types of mixtapes and Max kept it pretty original by not doing very much beat jacking, mostly just remakes/originality on his part. The other thing he showcased on this mixtape was artists he works around, you got to get a taste of his partner J-Von from Lay Lo and a track off his new album, then his boys Reno & Blackman both got their shine on and showed you they can actually rap and got skills to. Now Max Minelli is one of those rappers that when you heard him for the first time you knew he had something special to offer when it came to the making music. It is said that you have to pay your dues in this game before your suppose to reach that certain point and he has pretty much done that already having a career stretch longer than most average rappers only dream about. It makes you think sometimes because talent in the South sometimes gets over looked until it blows up and becomes some sort of a cult phenomenon where everyone that probably would of never took a chance on this rapper all of sudden is his number one fan. Overall, Max Minelli is like a treasure chest waiting to be cracked open and have his treasures unleashed for people to hear, like Lil Flip, like David Banner, now Max Minelli.
