Entrapta is the Horde's malevolent female technician.
Entrapta,
originally designed as Catra's only true sidekick for the
Princess of Power toy-line, was the
sole new addition to the Horde introduced for Season Two.
However, ever a non-threatening appearing
character, Entrapta's purpose and abilit was adjusted for the TV
series. Instead of capturing people in
her killer-braids, as was primarily intended, Entrapta was
blessed with a talent for designing hyper-
sophisticated machinery for the Horde - and to tie in with the
name, traps were her forté. Strange
wiggly mechanical tentacles, [66] a Magnetic Force Dome
[66] and a huge Trapper
Tank [79] were the
three inventions she made in the series.
However,
the writers could not just neglect the concept of Entrapta's
killer strands of hair. Don Heckman
wrote Entrapta as a powerful and coniving addition to the Horde
and showcased her ability to control her
inventions with her hair. He even allowed her a shining moment
when she attacked Imp with them, [79]
which adds her to the impressive list of Hordesmen to despise
Hordak's pet.
One
thing that does seem slightly odd is Entrapta's position in the
Horde hierarchy. Whereas such villains
as Grizzlor, Leech and Scorpia were always confined to ground-level,
Entrapta, who only even spoke to
Hordak in one episode of the series, was allowed the prestige of
standing with the master. For a supporting
character, this is quite an honour, especially as regulars Shadow
Weaver, Catra and Imp were the only
other Horde members to reach such a status. Her intelligence
levels and crafty nature could have led her
to this - if we had seen more of her, it's undoubtable that we'd
have got a better picture of her abilities.
