Imp is Hordak's shape-shifting spy.
Although
Imp made a fair few appearances in the She-Ra series, he is
historically a very
undeveloped character. However to make up for such a loss, his
personality is crafted perfectly.
To make it blatant, Imp is a suck-up to his master, causing all
the other Hordesmen to detest him
thoroughly. To make matters worse, he even makes light of their
failures and influences Hordak
to relieve his anger by taking it out on the other members of the
Horde. [55, 78] Hatred of the
character has been shown from Catra, Shadow Weaver, Scorpia and
Entrapta to name the main
opposition. It seems the rest of the Horde members were either
too stupid (Grizzlor, Leech) or too
innocent (Mantenna) to make a point of picking an arguement with
Imp, though they also showed
signs of disliking him.
Without
his master, however, it would seem that Imp is completely
powerless, as far as status
goes. Catra had him wrapped around her little finger when
attempting to take-over Elf World [54]
and the entire Force Squad threatened to deal with him once and
for all when Hordak had been
outcast by Skeletor. [56]
However,
it isn't just the other Horde members that hate Imp so much,
clearly the Rebels do too,
and with good reason. Fittingly, his similar-sized counterpart
Kowl is the Rebel with whom the
biggest grudge is held, particularly because of the time Imp
tried to frame the bird as being a spy
for Hordak. [43] Kowl, clearly, wasn't best
pleased.
Imp's
role as a Horde spy has come in handy many a time, with the
little creep, so put by
Catra [46], hearing of the skillful Red
Knight [08], Adora's enchanted but useless
locket [81] and the
birth of Swift Wind's baby on Unicorn Island. [93] However, his prime power is
one of
transformation in a similar way to his master Hordak and the less
prominent character of Multi-Bot.
Usually maintaining his prime blue colour, Imp has transformed
into objects such as a bush [23],
a loudhorn [55] and even a pair of scissors to
do battle with Entrapta's locks! [79]
Only twice has Imp appeared unexpectedly from transformation
having not adopted his obvious
shade. Once as a painting [17] and another time as a squirrel.
[24]
Imp was
a much more powerful character than he may appear at a brief
glance. Though his
powers of transformation were often used to comical effect, his
metamorphasis into a Flame
Thrower [57] proved his strength to its
full extent, causing a jungle-fire which spread through the
quiter regions of Beast Island.
