*FOOL YOURSELF HAPPY*
Help for dealing with chronic depression
Date November 8, 2001                                                                             Smile, sing, laugh and dance and FOOL your endorphins!
Alright, all of you Sad Sacks, "oh-woe-is-me" down in the dumpers....
Now we have scientific evidence that backs up the theory that we can "FOOL OURSELVES"
into a GOOD mood! Feel like crying? well, go into the bathroom and stick out your tongue at
yourself and then pretend to be another person viewing until you can make yourself laugh!

I know your body and mind doesn't want to listen to this nonsense, but hey, it's worth a TRY, now,
isn't it?
If you have to ACT the whole part, then do it1  Just DO IT!
"Goo goo gaga i'm a monkeeeee...." Now, curve those lip edges up, and slowly open
your mouth. tilt back your head, close your eyes and say
"HA HA HA"!!!

There now, was that so hard to do?
Try it again. Do it three times. THREE always works. It has to. It's the MAGIC number.
It's the triangle, the pyramid, and the right amount to get the brain opened up for suggestions.

Now, think of a happy song or little tune that you learned as a child or teenager,
or heck, even as an adult. Everyone knows at least ONE.
Rock your head side-to-side back and forth from shoulder to shoulder a few times, about 8-10.
Now bring your shoulders in forward one at a time in a rocking motion. about 20 times.
Try to do them both together the best that you can. Then start singing the little happy song.
If you can't think of one, sing:

"If you're happy and you know it, say I AM",
"If you're happy and you know it, say I am",
"If you're happy and you know it,
then your face will surely show it,
if you're happy and you know it, say I am!"

~Sing this song a few times while performing the rocking exercise~
(another good one is
"This Little Light of Mine")

Now look in the mirror into your eyes and SING:

"Come out, come out, wherever you are!"
"Do you HEAR me!?"
"I SAID...COME OUT, COME OUT, WHEREVER YOU ARE"

and OPEN YOUR EYES as WIDE as you can as you lift your eyebrows as HIGH as you can.
Blink your eyes fast ten times, then OPEN WIDE. Do it again, and again.
Keep your teeth together and part your lips. Make the corners reach your ears!
AH! RAISE those EYEBROWS!    ~
you're so pretty when you *SMILE*
Squint your eyes and then say:

"Hi Cutie! "
trying to keep the same expression, but a bit more comfortably, say:
"How are you?"
Squint your eyes a bit again while raising your cheeks, and say:
"I'm FINE....."

~and KNOW it to be TRUE~
Now LAUGH OUT LOUD and
~Dance a few dance steps as you go on your way!~

Your external actions have just FOOLED your internal brain chemistry
into believing that your heart, mind, and soul are HAPPY !
Your mood stabilizers, natural chemicals; serotonin, and endorphins,
have just received a "natural boost" and act almost as a natural elixer..
I'm not finished!
I'll be back soon!
not finished and not edited
