History
This project of a heavy transport and salvage helicopter is
dated 1943. The basic layout of the Fa.223 was to be enlarged
and reinforced. Two BMW.801 (2x1600hp) were to drive two
huge opposite rotating rotors of 16m diameter. The cargo was
to be housed in a large detachable freight compartment under
the fuselage. The design was ready and construction began, but was
terminated because of the difficulties with large bevel gears.
It's interesting to note, that the alternative to this project was
a proposition to join in "Zwilling" form two Fa.223 helicopters.
