History
While living in exile in Argentina, Dr.R.Horten joined the FMA (Fabrica Militar de Aviones)
where he devoted himself to bring forth many interesting projects from the war-time period.
One of the most interesting was the IAe-38 "Naranjero" which was developed from the
Ho.VIII flying wing bomber with 80 meter wing span. Actually the IAe-38 was a scaled down
Ho.VIII suited for transport role. Only one aircraft was built in 1959 and flown successfully
for a few times. The aircraft was powered with four (insufficient) I.Ae.16 El Gaucho piston engines.
The wing span was 32 meters. The aircraft was to be used for orange transporting and was probably painted
ORANGE overall, except for white cockpit.
