History
The idea of a little "parasite" fighter carried on board a big
bomber and intended to defend it from the enemy interceptors
was studied in such leading aircraft design countries as the
USA (XP-85 Goblin), the USSR (project by Myasishchev) and
Germany - Me.P.1073, but the latter project was dated much
earlier - August 1940.
The Me P.1073 was actually a two aircraft type project. The
first - P.1073 A was a huge 128 ton transatlantic bomber with
63m wing span, powered with eight Jumo-223 engines. This
monster was to carry 6,000 kg of bombs up to 16,000km. The
defensive armament included three parasite jet fighters with
folding wings, armed with two 20mm guns. This small plane
was called P.1073 B.
