History.
The idea of vertical take-off/landing (VTOL) aircraft was
developed by Heinkel company in two projects: "Lerche"
and "Wespe". The first, powered with two piston engines,
was planned as an assault plane, while the second, using
the HeS.021 turboprop, was designed as the interceptor
fighter. Both projects utilized the ring-shaped wing.
