History
The success of the Vought/Zimmerman V.173 "flying flapjack" lead Boeing to similar research
on the thick oval wing subject. The B.390 shipboard single-seat fighter project was based upon such wing,
but differed from the Vought concept in powering with one piston engine driving counter-rotating
three-bladed propellers at the airplane nose.
