History
The advent of the new Japanese turbojet engine Mitsubishi Ne-20(475KG) inspired the designers of the well known Ohka suicide planes to install it on the Ohka Model 22 airframe. The project was called Ohka model 33 and was intended to be carried under the heavy Renzan (Rita) bombers. Good flight characteristics promised by the type led to the idea of building a few non-kamikaze versions of it. The last known designed type was called Ohka Model 53. It was a pilotless missile, guided by radio. It was to be carried by a carrier plane to the target and released in its proximity. Immediately after engine launch the outer wing panels were to be jettisoned to achieve maximum top speed. This project was dropped as too complicated.
