History
In 1945 Soviets continued the evaluation tests of German DFS.346 research aircraft. To backup this work with its "own" design OKB headed by R.M.Biesnovat (deputy German designer G. Ressing) was assigned the similar project called "5" or "Samolyot (aircraft) 5". The first stage was the "5-1" glider, which was first flown in July 1948, being released from the parent Pe-8 bomber. The second aircraft "5-2" was powered with Soviet rocket engine (Dushkin RD-2M3VF, 2,000kg thrust) and its first gliding flight by G.M.Shiyanov was on January 26, 1949. After several successful gliding flights the whole program was abandoned for unknown reasons.
