Grand Prix of Portoroz, Slovenia, 3rd October 2004
For the first time the Portoroz Grand Prix, held on a temporary airport circuit in the Slovenian port city, hosted a grid of Formula 3000 cars. Four International F3000 teams turned up to give their Lola B2/50s a final racing swansong, with GP2 replacing FIA F3000 for 2005. The teams taking part in the five-lap demonstration race were Coloni Motorsport, CMS Performance, Durango and AEZ IE Engineering.
Practice was held on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, with the race held on Saturday afternoon. Regular Coloni driver Patrick Friesacher took the win, ahead of the CMS Performance duo of Matteo Meneghello and Matteo Bobbi. Renault-bound F1 star Giancarlo Fisichella was also in attendance.
