Hello, Here is news about changes and additions to http://codeamber.org . It's not a "Code Amber Portal" that is supposed to be operating in 11 (or 12, depending on what you read) states sometime in the next year. Code Amber has supported all 50 US states since August 2002 and all Canadian provinces since June of 2003. We have published 170 Amber Alerts involving 195 children to date. See http://codeamber.org/stats.html Please, let me explain the difference between Code Amber and a "portal". The Amber Alert portal that has been in the news, and Marc Klass' portal that has been operational for over a year and a half, REQUIRE that a law enforcement officer in the Amber Alert area have the training and the time to log into the "portal" web site and input information and upload photographs to activate the "portal" system. Code Amber does all of the work for law enforcement that the "portals" expect law enforcement personnel to do. Frankly, they should not have to take the time away from their normal frantic duties trying to find the child so WE DO IT. All they need to do is let us know about the Amber Alert by email, fax or phone and they are done. We even notify the media in surrounding, or specific, states if they ask us. That is what sets us apart and why we have become the most visible publisher of Amber Alerts in the US and Canada. Over 165,000 web sites and personal computer Code Amber Tickers are viewed over 1,000,000 times a day on average. We also have strong relationships with all national media outlets and we continue to develop new relationships thanks to Linda Spagnoli's efforts. Code Amber does not receive any grants or funding from any government agency. Code Amber is provides as a free public service by our family company, Bighits.com with additional support from you, the web community. You can help support Code Amber directly by purchasing a Sponsor Link ( http://codeamber.org/sponsor_links.html or by making a one-time or monthly contribution as a "Friend" of Code Amber ( http://codeamber.org/donate.html . Code Amber also receives a portion of each sale of the Safety NET Kids video ( http://codeamber.org/video.html and the Pierre Matisse 2004 Code Amber Poster ( http://codeamber.org/poster.html . Primary funding by BigHits.com is provided through hosting, statistical and promotional services provided to over 50,000 web masters worldwide. See http://codeamber.org/support.html for the BigHits portfolio of web master services. Code Amber is not a non-profit organization and we have never presented ourselves as such. We have a political agenda in support of legislation such as "Carlie's Law" ( http://carlieslaw.org/ ) which will impose stronger controls on probation and parole violators, in some cases deny parole for certain crimes against children and repeat offenders. Carlie Brucia's accused killer should have spent 43 years in jail for crimes previously committed, however, he was incarcerated for less than 13 months. Non-profit organizations are not allowed to promote legislation or to have a political agenda under IRS regulations. No contribution to Code Amber is tax deductible. *** Our Sponsor Links have been a great success. Many supporters are repeat buyers and we thank you. We currently have a special 2 for 1 offer running. For a limited time you can get a Sponsor Link for two weeks for the price of one and eight weeks for the price of four. Sponsor links are viewed an average of 125,000 times per week and run on all of the Code Amber sites.
