Members Versus Men

"The value of our Fraternity is not in numbers, but in men, in real brotherhood. Eight men thoroughly immersed in the true Omega Spirit are far greater assets than eighty with lukewarm enthusiasm." "Do thy duty that is best; leave unto the Lord the rest."

Calling all Ques! Calling all Ques! The Upsilon Nu Chapter has several projects on the agenda that will require the utmost attention and participation from the brotherhood. It is imperative that we all come together in the spririt of brotherhood and as Loyal Sons of Omega, and participate in the chapter activities.

First, The 4th Annual Omega Scholarship Open Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday June 17, 2000. This event is a wonderful opportunity for the chapter to raise much needed scholarship funds. The gold tournament will be held at The Brookwoods Golf Club and will have a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The registration fee will be $75 per golfer. The tournament is open to all levels of golfers, all genders, and all races. It will feature prizes for the longest drive, closest to the pin, and putt for ping contests. The tournament will also have a Best Dressed Team Contest. So you can come out and represent!!! Snacks and refreshments will be provided and there will be post-awards cookout!

Take 64 East to Bottoms Bridge (exit 205), make a left at the traffic light going Route 60 East. Turn left on Route 1201 and make a left on Club Drive and follow to the clubhouse.

For additional information, please contact Brother Reginald Bradley (364-0658) or Brother Jerry Crews, Jr. (321-1602.

Second, keep your calendars clear for the date of Saturday, June 10. The chapter has secured this date for the Kings Dominion Project. The project allows for organizations, like us, to work in the park and earn money.

We need at least 20 brothers to come out to work and fraternize to support the chapter in this endeavor! The shift runs from 12 noon to 9 p.m. Please be present at the Human Resources Office at 11:30 a.m. to complete the necessary paperwork. Ask for a Ms. Altrice Smith. This wonderful lady hooked us up and put the chapter in the Games Department. The required dress code is as follows:

I cannot stress the importance of the need for brothers to come out to support and represent the chapter in this endeavor. It is a simple way to earn money for the fraternity as well as get together and socialize with one another.

For more information, please contact Brother Tony Pham (756-6645) or Brother Robert Lester (639-9091)

Also, please keep in mind the following dates: June 24th, July 8th and August 5th. These are the dates that Upsilon Nu has also requested to work at Kings Dominion.

Third, please keep in mind that there is an over-night strategic planning retreat planned for the month of August. More information is to come.

Finally, Upsilon Nu is currently planning a chapter and family picnic for August 19th. The venue is to be determined. Suggestions and assistance are more than welcome to begin preparations for this event.

Ques In The Spotlight

"We are Men of Vision, Soldiers of Purpose!"

Congratulations to the following elected representatives:

The chapter would also like to recognize the achievements of relatives of brothers in Upsilon Nu. Specifically, Upsilon Nu would like to congratulate Brother Jerome Jackson’s son in receiving Honorable Mention in a recent art competition. Brother Jackson’s son currently attends Monacan High School in Chesterfield and his award was featured in an article by The Richmond Times-Dispatch. Keep up the good work.

Sir Frederick’s Food Mart is definitely your one stop shop for all of your basic needs. For more information, please contact Brother Robinson at 222-6776.

Brother Gregory Parham operates a full service lawn care business. The business is fully equipped to handle any of your lawn care needs including, but not limited to, hauling, cutting, trimming, aerating, seeding, and mulching. Brothers, it is not only important to "uplift" one another in the true spirit of Omega, but to also support each others' businesses in order to foster growth and support in our communities.
