Some notes for the 2001 Edition (and quite possibly the 10th anniversary) of the HOSER CUP: - Well, it came down to Game seven of the final, where both of us got 5 points to finish off the closest Hoser Cup ever!! -Joe Sakic was the leading scorer in the playoffs and the leading point getter among any payer chosen...Partick Roy won the Conn Smythe for a record third time...The goalies were by far the best two goalies, and were even in points and shutouts heading into the final game... -I was only 128 points off my projection, while Weebs was off by 132 points....Johnny was within 60 of guessing what I would get, while I thought Johnny would get 71 more than he got...(we're knuckleheads, asically) - We both lost 1 player in the 3 game sevens..Zhitnik because Buffalo sucks, and Forsberg to a bum spleen -Rob Blake was the first pick overall by Mike after a best of seven coin-flipping series that was tails for the first six games, despite the fact that heads was called every time...Home ice advantage played a huge role in securing Mike the first pick because when heads was finally turned up, he had the call in the seventh and deciding flip.... -GOALIES get ONE point for a win, and 2 points for a shutout... -Weebs' point projections: Weebs 327, Brock 259 (needs 3.4 rounds of 74 points) -Brock's point projections: Brock 327, Weebs 266 (needs 3.6 rounds of 71 points) -We were treated to the worst waitress/bartender in the history of semi-cold beer at Mick E. Fynn's yesterday, but we still managed to celebrate the conclusion of a fine draft with five pitchers of, well, draft.... -Weebs was the Hoser Cup Draft Golden Tee Champion yesterday after winning the final two rounds of 18...Brock won the first 18 handily, though.. -the HOSER CUP, is getting refitted in time for June's presentation..It is the first time that the cup has undergone such an overhaul... -to qualify as a plug, the player has to have played in at least 60 games, have more than 100 Penalty Minutes and LESS THAN 20 points... |
