We stayed at the Lighthouse Keepers' Cottages at Cape Willoughby which were really comfortable and served as a great starting off point each day.
We also got free parks passes which gave us a chance to turn into proper tourists in between surfing trips.
The accommodation is excellent, each cottage sleeps eight people and is very affordable.
Check it out.

We set off from Derek's place at Port Elliot for Cape Jervis to catch the SeaLink Ferry to Penneshaw. We loaded up in Penneshaw on bread, milk and of course beer B4 heading off to Cape Willoughby. Unfortunately conditions weren't right for an afternoon surf so it was a game of touch footy on the beach instead.
Our first casualty was back at Cape Willoughby when Tony got mauled by a possum. Fortunately thanks to a bandaid and the superior medical skills of The President, the arm was saved.
Off on our surfari. You could see the potential at most places but it was usually a case of just  the wrong conditions (wind, swell etc) on the day.
We turned up at Stokes Bay on the northern side and lo and behold - waves.
Stokes is a nice little sheltered bay with a walk through a small cave to get to there. It kept on reminding me of something out of Lord of the Rings. The only down side was having to pay $7 for a coffee at The Rockpool Cafe - needless to say, we didn't.
The sun was out and even thought the waves were small, it was sunny, offshore and clean.
Vivonne Bay was one of our first surf choices but after 15 minutes in the water Tony saw a fin just behind Matt so we all headed in to shore (really quickly). We figured it was better to be safe than a snack.
We headed off to Little Sahara National Park to do some sandboarding. The sandhills are really big but the climb back up the hill was a major pain in the legs. Anyhow, we all headed off home exhausted and with sand in places that sand should never be found.
Hanson Bay had a few waves but a couple of rips as well which made things interesting. At least people got wet.
There was some time for "touristing" as well and some of us went to Seal Bay which was pretty good but a bit disappointing seeing that the seals just lay on the sand and didn't juggle balls on their noses like proper seals.
Remarkable Rocks was pretty good too but it was a bit strange considering that two people drowned while saving someone who fell in after ignoring the signs.
A few more surfs and two flat tyres (lucky Rowan) before we knew it it was Friday. Tony and Fonz did some fishing and got heaps of whiting while everyone else had one last play at Stokes Bay before we headed off to Penneshaw and back to the mainland.
