        14th Cavalry to be re-activated

I received this bulletin from our National Adjutant, Bob Monasmith. Any of
you that plan to attend the 2nd Inf. Div Korean War Veterans Alliance,  in
Seattle, WA from Sept. 5th through Sept. 9th. may contact me or Joe Hess,
President of the Alliance for further information.

WARNING ORDER:  Veterans of the 14th Armored Cavalry Regiment are hereby
informed that the 14th Cavalry will be re-activated in ceremonies at Fort
Lewis, Washington on 15 September 2000.  The 1st Squadron, 14th Cav will be
reflagged from a tank battalion (1-32Armor) and it will become one of the
units of the new Interim Brigade Combat Team that is a part of the
transformation of the US Army into a more deployable force. Another squadron
will be activated at Fort Lewis some time later. Fort Lewis will become the
new home of the Regiment.

14th Cav troopers who are able to get out to Fort Lewis in September are
encouraged to attend the ceremonies on the 15th and to take along
memorabilia
that can help the new squadron build esprit.  This looks like an excellent
opportunity for a regimental reunion.  The Suivez Moi Committee is looking
into possible arrangements and is in contact with key personnel of 1/32 Armor
to determine how we can contribute to the reflagging ceremony and related
activities.

Mark your calendars.  As more information becomes available it will be
posted on the bulletin board of our web site at www.14th-acr.org/bboard.html
and provided by follow-on email.

Yours in the bonds of a great regiment.

The Suivez Moi Committee

This is exciting for me in that I was assigned to the 2nd Inf Div at Fort
Lewis when I returned from my tour of duty in Fritzlar from 47 to 49. I
sailed with the 2nd to Korea in 1950. It will be like "Old Home Week" for
me.

Best Regards,
Neil Aikin, Adjutant
