Greetings Troopers and Ladies.
By the time you read this it will be SPRING 2006. Isn’t that great?
We can finally say Good-bye to a dreary Winter. This brings us close to
our reunion. As a matter of fact, the Reunion Committee just
returned
from a trip to the Treadway to complete the planning for the reunion.
As
usual, we received a warm welcome and the hotel staff’s complete
cooperation
to make sure our gathering will be a success.
We have made a few changes in the
program
that should be beneficial. Some late arrivals on Monday do not get a
chance
to have supper, so before the briefing, we will have some pizzas and
coffee
sent in to tide you over. You may tap the keg instead of coffee if you
so desire.
We did not want to say anything before,
but our patience has been rewarded. The Tioga Downs RaceTrack and
Casino
will be opening in May and racing starts June 9th. It is an entirely
new
entity that includes shops and restaurants in addition to the harness
racing
and video games. It is only 10 minutes down the road. We suggest
prepaying
your hotel bill before viewing this wonderful new facility.
When we had finished our
meeting with the hotel staff for our June reunion, we sat down to
discuss
what to do for the reunion in 2007. While the majority had voted to
return
to the Treadway, there were some comments that we should go someplace
else,
with one suggesting tours, and one stating, there is nothing to do at
the
Treadway.
Experience taught us most members like
to just sit and talk, or get together with an old buddy and go off on
their
own. Still, we listen to all comments and try to have something for
everyone.
Searching for a new facility and taking the time to visit to inspect it
is time consuming and getting more difficult to do.
It was noted there will be a
National
Convention next year in OP# 3 our next door neighbor. As of
this date,
the site selected is in Sevierville, TN near to
Dollywood and Dolly’s
Stampede Dinner and Show, The Forbidden Caverns, the Louise Mandrell
Show and much more. For a new place and something to do, OP# 2 will have
their reunion within the National in 2007. There is also the chance
that
you may meet more old buddies that are not able to come to our Outpost
reunion. As time goes on and travel is more difficult, this could be
the
last national reunion for the Association. We will give you information
on the national at our reunion this June.
Briefly, for our
reunion,
you are reminded, we arrive on Monday June 26th and depart on Thursday
June 29th. The program will have the briefing of activities on Monday
night,
following pizza and whatever? – Tuesday will be open for attendees to
go
off on their own for a wine tour or go to the Tioga Downs facility.
Shuttles
may be available to the Downs. We are still checking on that. Bar-B-Q
dinner
that night upon return. Wednesday AM will be our Outpost meeting and in
the afternoon, drawing for raffle prizes. That night the farewell
dinner.
Depart the hotel Thursday June 29th.
We still
have a few members who have not paid
their $8 dues for 2006. Check the date on your address label.
Dues to
be
sent to the Collector of Dues listed in
the first column on page 2.
Make
dues checks payable to “U.S.
Constabulary Association.” NOT OP# 2
Checks for OP#2 items on last
page [pg. 4] are to be made out to Outpost # 2 U.S. Constabulary
and sent to Ed
Yetsko… address on last page.
The Outpost
Treasury continues to be in excellent health to keep us financially
stable,
thanks to our generous donors. The Outpost officers and I are
looking
forward to seeing you on June 26th.
GOD BLESS
Fraternally,
Bob Robert L. Franklin
