US 119 was an original 1926 route. At the time its south end was in Morgantown
WV. Northbound US 19 crossed the Monongahela River via the Pleasant Street bridge,
and then turned north on University Avenue. US 119 began by continuing straight
ahead on Pleasant. The photo below is looking north on University, which today
serves as US 119...

...but originally US 119 began to the right on Pleasant.
In 1934 the south end of US 119 was extended to Pineville
KY (along what had been US 123 [I]... and US 23 before that). You can
view photos from there on this
page.
Apparently the north end of US 119 has always been about a mile south of Du
Bois PA, at its junction with US 219. The photo below shows the "End" sign on
119 as it approaches 219 (or Brady Street):

The shot below shows the north beginning of US 119 as seen from
southbound US 219:

In case you can't make it out, the green sign indicates that it's 59 miles
to Ebensburg via 219, and 17 miles to Punxsutawney via 119. Both routes have
junctions with US 322 about a mile ahead.
