The north end of US 511 was in Bristol
TN (you can view photos from there on this
page).
The south end of US 511 was in Strawberry Plains TN (which appeared on some
historic maps as "Strawberry Fields"). The photo below shows the modern equivalent
of the intersection where US 511 ended - today's US 11E runs just to the south
of the original highway through here. We're looking west on what is now southbound
US 11E:

US 70 used to come in from the left here (where the black pickup is), but this
segment of US 11E hadn't been built. So US 70 continued off to the right for
another eighth-mile or so, to what's now known as the "Old Andrew Johnson
Highway". There it turned left (facing the same direction as the camera),
but a right turn would've been the south beginning of US 511. Today US 70 bypasses
Strawberry Plains to the south, and its former route up to this point is now
TN secondary hwy. 139. The photo below shows the old junction:

That's looking southwest on Old A.J. Hwy at the historic endpoint of US 511.
Straight ahead was westbound US 70, while eastbound was to the left on Old Dandridge
Pike. At right you can see the remains of what was once a fine-looking service
station.
The shot below is back at the modern intersection, looking north on 139 (or
Dandridge):
This used to be westbound US 70, which continued straight ahead to Old A.J.,
then turned left. But a right turn on A.J. would've been the beginning of northbound
US 511.
