The original US 122 ran from Wilmington DE to Whitehouse NJ from 1926 to 1934. Then it was extended north to Haverstraw NY - but later that same year it was decommissioned and replaced by US 202. I have a page about its termini here.

When the US 122 designation was recycled later in 1934, its north end was in Northumberland PA. It came into town on King Street, via what is now PA 147, ending at its junction with US 11 (Water Street):

The south end of US 122 [II] was in Oxford PA, at its junction with US 1. The photo below is looking west on Market (or High) Street where it T's into 3rd Street:

US 1 used to come into Market from the northeast on Lincoln Avenue (just off the lower right corner of this photo). It was routed ahead on Market to 3rd, and then left from here (where the black car is heading). But if you turned right from here (opposite of the black car), you'd be heading north at the south beginning of US 122 (which is now PA hwy. 10 as far as Reading). From Reading, US 122 followed what is now PA 61 to Sunbury. It then crossed the Susquehanna and ended in Northumberland, at its junction with US 11.

In 1956, the south end of US 122 [II] was truncated back to Morgantown PA. By then, the Pennsylvania Turnpike had been built thorugh there, and I suppose the segment between Morgantown and Oxford was no longer deemed worthy of a US designation. The photo below is looking south on Cherry Street, which was once US 122 [II], but now serves as PA hwy. 10. The intersection ahead is Main Street (and PA 23). The access plaza for the PA Tpke (I-76) is just behind the camera. Presumably the missing interstate shield is for I-176, which begins about a quarter-mile to the right and heads north to Reading:

Before 1956, southbound US 122 [II] took a right from here on Main for about a half-mile, and then went south again along modern PA 10 to Oxford. Then, from 1956 to 1963, the south end of US 122 [II] was at its junction with PA 23 at the intersection ahead. The route was completely decommissioned in 1963.
